(7:14:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: Dark was falling as you approached McLean. You didn't relish the prospect of entering a zombie infested town after dark, but you didnt much like the prospect of spending another night sleeping on the hard ground either. It had been raining on and off all day, and showed no sign of letting up at night. Soaked to the bone and thoroughly miserable, you stand deliberating on the outskirts of town. (7:14:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: As you weigh your options, several other survivors straggle out of the rain, until a group of five has formed. You eye the newcomers warily, and they all return the favor. Your group spaces out into a rough circle as you each attempt to keep your distance, yet keep your eye on all of the others. (7:14:56 PM) SteveMcWhat: The standoff drags on. One of the others reaches into his backpack and the whole group tenses: then sighs with relief when he pulls out a water bottle and takes a swig. "Alright," someone finally says, "this is starting to get ridiculous. We can't stand here all night." (7:17:35 PM) Devin McCloud: I fidget anxiously. "So... um..." (7:17:40 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, we could. I mean, we might get eaten by zombies, but at least we'd be albe to meaninglessly posture to a group of random strangers" (7:18:20 PM) Kyle Reid: "I suppose the least we could do is introduce ourselves." (7:18:35 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Lets walk and talk. I'm tired, but we should find shelter." (7:18:54 PM) Devin McCloud: I nod. "That sounds reasonable to me." (7:19:01 PM) William Laurence: I nod cautiously. (7:19:03 PM) Kyle Reid: "OK." (7:19:17 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Why not." (7:19:17 PM) SteveMcWhat: You begin walking towards town (7:19:44 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, I'm Dr. Clyve Fourier, M.D. Ph.D. Not that the last bits really matter much anymore, but hey." (7:20:06 PM) Kyle Reid: I nod. "Kyle Reid, paramedic." (7:20:49 PM) William Laurence: "I'm Laurence. Pleased to meet y'all." (7:21:04 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Caitlin." (7:21:28 PM) Devin McCloud: "Officer Devin McCloud, Amarillo PD. Or what's left of it, anyway." (7:21:58 PM) Clyve Fourier: "By which I'm guessing you mean that you are what's left of the Amarillo PD." (7:22:12 PM) Devin McCloud: I nod. "As far as I know." (7:22:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: When someone coined the phrase "one road town" it may well have been McLean they had in mind. You walk down this one road, keeping your eyes peeled for threats but finding none. The entire town consists of six houses, two small businesses, what looks to be a diner, and a larger steepled building on the east side of town which you take to be a chapel. (7:23:19 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Chapels and homes are likely tohave too many windows, bad hideout spots. (7:23:33 PM) Devin McCloud: I look around. Do their appear to be any signs of life (or unlife), other than us? (7:23:43 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I'd reccommend we set up a defensive position in one of the businesses, they're much more defensible." (7:23:56 PM) SteveMcWhat: All is still. No signs of anything (7:24:03 PM) Kyle Reid: "The kitchen in the diner might be a good place." (7:24:13 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We should still check out the houses. Food, batteries, make-up." (7:24:18 PM) William Laurence: "There's probably food in that diner. Unless you guys have more food than I and feel like sharing, I recommend we start there." (7:24:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Guns. I need a new gun." (7:25:21 PM) SteveMcWhat: You walk past the first of the shops. Now that you're closer you can read the sign by the moonlight. "McLean Feed Store" (7:25:55 PM) Kyle Reid left the room. (7:26:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. Well, now that I think about it, religious inclination of the populace might mean that the church would be the first place they would seek refuge following the invasion. So really, we'd have to seach everywhere." (7:26:39 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I think we can skip the feed store, though." (7:26:54 PM) Devin McCloud: "I recommend the diner, first. I don't know about you guys, but I'm running a bit lean on food." (7:27:03 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Okay. So, diner, swing by the houses, and then chapel?" (7:27:09 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Sure." (7:27:14 PM) William Laurence: "Sounds good to me" (7:27:21 PM) Kyle Reid entered the room. (7:27:27 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Though, I suppose it might make sense to find somewhere secure first, before weighing ourselves down?" (7:27:35 PM) SteveMcWhat: You pass the second small business on the way towards the diner, and make note of the sign: "Anabelle's Antiques" (7:27:43 PM) Devin McCloud: "Also true. Hmm..." (7:28:19 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Lets just keep walking. My first point was better." (7:28:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Wait. Antiques." (7:29:07 PM) Devin McCloud: "What about them?" (7:29:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check for some kind of security system. Are the doors barrable/ do they have that steel mesh thing over the windows? (7:29:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door is locked, but that seems the extent of the security (7:30:07 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Antiques can be valuable. It would stand to reason that this would be a better-secured location. But, I guess not. Carry on." (7:30:19 PM) Clyve Fourier: I continue towards the diner. (7:30:24 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow. (7:30:43 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Maybe in New York, or somewhere, but this place is small enough to not having roving bands of thieves." (7:30:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: You trudge up to Lucille's Diner. The parking lot is empty. The front wall of the diner is a continuous window from waist high up, but it's too dark to see inside. (7:31:20 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Somebody got a flashlight?" (7:31:27 PM) Devin McCloud: I pull out my flashlight, flick it on, then remember the battery's dead. (7:31:48 PM) Devin McCloud: "Ah. Right. This thing died on me a few days back. I haven't found a new battery for it yet." (7:32:01 PM) Clyve Fourier: "What about a lighter? (7:32:14 PM) Kyle Reid: "Sorry. Didn't think to bring one." (7:32:23 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Wait. Last town I was in, my friend started waving her flashlight around. Attracted a horde. She died." (7:32:27 PM) SteveMcWhat: (You think that you could see inside if you entered. You just can't see through the window) (7:32:36 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "How about we quietly just take a closer look?" (7:33:16 PM) Devin McCloud: "Alright." I draw my gun, making sure its loaded and that there's a round chambered. (7:33:25 PM) SteveMcWhat: The front door is locked, but it too is glass. (7:33:44 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I can get the door, if you'd like." (7:34:23 PM) William Laurence: I raise an eyebrow, "Go ahead, Doctor." (7:34:26 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Unless you think breaking it would be too loud a noise and we should try around back." (7:34:58 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "That works. Or does anybody know how to pick locks?" (7:35:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I know the theory, but I lack the equiptment." (7:35:37 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "...anybody have a credit card?" (7:35:43 PM) Kyle Reid: "Let's just try around back." (7:35:53 PM) Clyve Fourier: I head around back. (7:35:56 PM) Devin McCloud: I head around back, looking for a back entrance. (7:36:33 PM) SteveMcWhat: The parking lot extends behind the building. There's a dumpster, screened from view by a fence, and a door next to it. (7:37:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Any cars in the lot? (7:37:11 PM) SteveMcWhat: No (7:37:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: Can we access the dumpster, or does the fence enclose it? (7:37:23 PM) Kyle Reid: I try to open the door. (7:37:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: You can get at the dumpster. The fence is just to keep customers from having to see the nasty dumpster. (7:38:00 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check inside the dumpster. Anything useful? (7:38:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Well, since there are no cars, hopefully the inhabitants left before they turned into monsters." (7:38:13 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door knob turns easily. It's unlocked (7:38:29 PM) Kyle Reid: "Hey guys. We can get in this way." (7:38:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: The dumpster is used primarily for food waste. It's been rotting for quite some time, judging by the stench loosed when you open the lid (7:39:22 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. Nothing useful, then. Let's head inside." (7:39:38 PM) Devin McCloud: I nod, then step forward toward the door. "I'll go first and make sure the building's secure." (7:39:52 PM) Kyle Reid: I let Devin through. (7:40:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door opens into a small kitchen. It's extremely dark in here, but there's enough light from the open door behind you to at least move without bumping into things (7:41:44 PM) SteveMcWhat: No sign of life (7:41:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: (or unlife) (7:42:21 PM) Clyve Fourier: I cautiously follow Devin. (7:42:25 PM) William Laurence: I step inside and start rummaging for food, and water (7:42:41 PM) Devin McCloud: I step through the door, raise my pistol, and start checking through rooms for any dangers. (7:42:48 PM) Kyle Reid: I take a quick glance around outside and then enter. (7:43:31 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I step inside too, but keep an eye on the door back out, and the lot, to make sure nothing comes in. (7:44:02 PM) SteveMcWhat: As you step inside you get a better feel for the layout of the diner. There's a large window in the kitchen wall that opens onto the diner, for passing orders to the waiters in front. A counter lined with stools runs about 4 feet in front of this window. Additional seating is available in the form of booths along the walls. (7:44:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: The back wall that the door is on has shelves for storage. You also see a walk in refrigerator (7:45:17 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check around for knives large enough to use as a weapon. (7:46:02 PM) Kyle Reid: I go snooping around looking for nothing in particular. (7:46:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I do likewise, but instead of knives I look for large pans. (7:46:13 PM) Devin McCloud: I approach the walk-in refrigerator and open it. (7:46:14 PM) SteveMcWhat: You find a block of knives of various sizes for chopping. The longest is about 8inches (7:46:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: I take it. Is it very sharp? (7:46:44 PM) SteveMcWhat: It's not dull (7:47:24 PM) SteveMcWhat: The refrigerator is no cooler than the rest of the room. It stinks of rotting meat (7:47:39 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. I suppose it will have to do, then." I look for edible food. (7:47:50 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin finds a large shallow pan for searing vegetables. (7:48:11 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I take it, and then begin looking for any tinned food or bottled water. (7:48:39 PM) SteveMcWhat: William stumbles on some canned foods, although it is too dark to read the labels (7:49:08 PM) William Laurence: I gather them all. Is it light enough to read them outside? (7:49:17 PM) Devin McCloud: I search the freezer carefully for any edible food or other supplies. (7:49:27 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve finds some large bags of some sort of grain, or perhaps rice or sugar (7:49:41 PM) William Laurence: *outside (7:49:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: I sample some of the material. What is it? (7:50:01 PM) Caitlin Youngs: whisper: "Devin, leave the freezer. We won't be able to take any food from there with us. Dry packaged food. Cans. That sort of stuff only." (7:50:13 PM) Kyle Reid: I go to the sink and see if it works. (7:50:14 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's a mop and bucket in the freezer, but it appears that all the food has spoiled (7:50:49 PM) Devin McCloud: I head back into the kitchen, then, and close the refrigerator behind me. (7:50:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: You turn the nozzle, but no liquid comes out. (7:51:36 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve tears open one of the bags and reaches inside. It's sugar. (7:51:54 PM) Kyle Reid: "Well, this looks like a good place to hide, but we need supplies. Anyone want to come with me to search those businesses?" (7:52:17 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "This is a terrible place to hide. One wall is made of glass!" (7:52:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Mm, good. High calories, relativley easy to transport. Also tasty." (7:52:36 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I agree. Let's check the businesses." (7:52:40 PM) Clyve Fourier: I take the sugar. (7:52:48 PM) Kyle Reid: "Yeah, but we can see anyone who comes by, and they wont be able to see us." (7:53:01 PM) Clyve Fourier: (I'm presuming it's one of those 2 or 5 lb bags you get a the grocery store? (7:53:12 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Or is it like a 50 lb sack?) (7:53:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: It's restaurant sized, but not like bakery sized. It's about 10 lbs (7:53:47 PM) William Laurence: "Well, it doesn't hurt to keep looking. Maybe there's a place that doesn't reek of rotten meat.?" (7:54:20 PM) Kyle Reid: "You're choosing this time to be picky?" (7:54:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: William heads outside to look over the cans that he's gathered. (7:54:58 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow William out. (7:55:06 PM) Kyle Reid: I head outside and start toward the businesses. (7:55:22 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's several large cans of baked beans (7:55:41 PM) SteveMcWhat: as well as several cans of tomato sauce. (7:55:48 PM) SteveMcWhat: No fruits or vegetables (7:55:50 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Rotten meat carries disease. There's a reason we don't like the smell." (7:55:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: I head out as well. (7:56:37 PM) Kyle Reid: "Most of it is in the freezer, and what isn't can be put in there." (7:56:41 PM) SteveMcWhat: Out in the parking lot, things are as empty as ever. (7:56:50 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Houses or businesses?" (7:57:03 PM) Kyle Reid: "I'm headed to the businesses." (7:57:04 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Businesses. More defensible, like I said." (7:57:06 PM) William Laurence: "Businesses" (7:57:36 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Okay. I hope you guys have things like blankets then, because I know I don't." (7:57:41 PM) Devin McCloud: "Businesses. Although the houses might have more general purpose supplies for us, we need a secure place to return to." (7:58:22 PM) SteveMcWhat: You've seen all the businesses this tiny town has to offer. There's the feed store and the antiques (7:58:40 PM) Kyle Reid: I go to the antiques store. (7:58:45 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Antiques. Antique stores are classy." (7:58:53 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow Reid to the antiques store. (7:59:47 PM) William Laurence: I follow as well. (8:00:09 PM) SteveMcWhat: the antique store looks much as you remember it. there's a locked door, and two display windows. One of them has a sticker reading "Honeywell" (8:00:21 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Alarm systems, crap." (8:00:40 PM) Kyle Reid: I start walking around back. (8:01:05 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the front door to try and see if I can disarm the system. Engineering: (8:01:14 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 10 (8:01:25 PM) William Laurence: "Does it matter? I seriously doubt there's power..." (8:01:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: "You can never be to cautious. And never make assumptions." (8:01:55 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "If, however, there is, we don't want to draw attention to ourselves." (8:02:02 PM) SteveMcWhat: You don't see any way to disable the security system (8:02:30 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle circumnavigates the building, but finds no other entrance. (8:03:02 PM) Devin McCloud: "Let's head to the feed store, then. I'd rather not set off any alarms just yet." (8:03:06 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, this is at least the most secure place. Let's check the feed store before we bunker down here." (8:03:10 PM) Devin McCloud: I start heading toward the feed store. (8:03:24 PM) Kyle Reid: "Well, unless someone can open this door, that's all she wrote. I don't like the idea of making to much noise breaking glass." (8:03:29 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Unfortunately, it's so secure we can't get in." (8:03:38 PM) Kyle Reid: I head over to the feed store. (8:04:26 PM) SteveMcWhat: The front of the feed store is a brick wall with double doors. there are no windows in front (8:04:33 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door is locked (8:04:53 PM) Devin McCloud: I check around back. (8:05:06 PM) Kyle Reid: "Are we sure no one here has lockpicks? You're not going to get in trouble for them now." (8:05:25 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's a loading bay in back for trucks. No trucks however. (8:05:48 PM) Devin McCloud: Is it closed, or is it open to the outside? (8:05:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Heck even a credit card would do. Somebody showed me how to open locked doors when I was a kid, but I need a card." (8:05:58 PM) Clyve Fourier: "All a lockpick is is a device to push up tumblers. Anything that could do that would work- hairpins, paper clips, anything." (8:06:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Just something small and bendable would work. (8:06:36 PM) SteveMcWhat: The bay has an overhang to protect trucks while they load, but no door. There is a door that leads to the store in the back. (8:06:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: I try to force the front door with the knife, then. Engn: (8:06:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (8:07:17 PM) Devin McCloud: I try the door to see if its locked, but don't open it just yet. (8:07:17 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door doesn't budge. (8:07:30 PM) SteveMcWhat: The back door however, swings open. (8:08:00 PM) Devin McCloud: "Wow." I murmur to myself. "That is a very eager door." (8:08:13 PM) Clyve Fourier: I head around back to enter, then. (8:08:19 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Oh right. Um it's open if you want to go for it) (8:08:27 PM) Devin McCloud: (Sure) (8:08:39 PM) Kyle Reid: I go round back and peer through the open door. (8:08:50 PM) Devin McCloud: I raise my pistol again and enter, securing the room. (8:09:41 PM) SteveMcWhat: The store smells of oats and hay. (8:09:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I wonder why everybody is heading round the back without any indication that anything is there, and then just blindly follow them. (8:10:00 PM) SteveMcWhat: As you enter further, you bump into a bushel. (8:10:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: (or wait, you're still outside.) (8:10:49 PM) SteveMcWhat: Um it just smells. You can't see much. (8:10:49 PM) Devin McCloud: (I'm not) (8:11:42 PM) Devin McCloud: I proceed further into the room, looking for any signs of (un)life or a light source. (8:12:15 PM) Kyle Reid: I cautiously enter the room. (8:12:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: I hover outside for a bit. (8:12:50 PM) SteveMcWhat: With no windows, and the overhang on the back door blocking light, there's almost no light in the building. (8:13:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: You can barely see an inch in front of your face. (8:13:37 PM) Kyle Reid: "Maybe we should come back here after we find some kind of light." (8:13:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: You do however find a pack of cigarettes and a lighter sitting outside on a ledge beside the door (8:14:04 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Ah! Yes!" (8:14:09 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Yeah, I've seen enough horror movies to know not to go into a completely dark building..." (8:14:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: I take both. (8:14:45 PM) Kyle Reid: "Well, I was thinking in terms of flashlights, but that'll do." (8:14:53 PM) Clyve Fourier: I look at Caitlin. "You mind if I smoke?" (8:15:07 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Why would I mind more than anybody else?" (8:15:14 PM) Devin McCloud: I pause for a moment, waiting on the others, since I can't really see anything anyway. (8:15:20 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Isn't everyone else inside?) (8:15:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: I shrug and light up, then toss the lighter to Devin. (8:15:56 PM) Devin McCloud: I catch the lighter and light it with my off hand. (8:15:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (William isn't inside.) (8:16:06 PM) Kyle Reid: "Ugh. I don't see how you enjoy those things." (8:16:38 PM) William Laurence: Oh, sorry. I go inside. (8:16:54 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I don't. It's an addiction, but I'm not stupid enough to try and break it and send myself into withdrawl symptoms in the middle of all this." (8:16:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (you didnt have to. just keeping track of who is where :p) (8:17:17 PM) SteveMcWhat: You find the source of the smell: a lot of oats, and a lot of hay. There's a counter with a cash register and a display of perhaps candybars. There are tools against one wall, and sacks on the other (8:17:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Besides, right now it's way more likely that I'll die of gunshot wounds or zombie bites than lung cancer" (8:17:31 PM) William Laurence: (well there's not much going outside, I assume) (8:18:45 PM) Devin McCloud: I approach the tools, searching through them for any flashlights or lamps, or for anything else that could be useful in the near future. (8:18:51 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "How defendable does it look in there?" (8:19:43 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds shovels, rakes, hoes, clippers, and an axe (8:20:21 PM) Kyle Reid: I take a closer look at the display. (8:20:25 PM) Devin McCloud: What kind of axe? (8:20:43 PM) SteveMcWhat: (For cutting wood it would appear) (8:21:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: (It's got a single blade on the end of about a four foot shaft) (8:21:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: I enter the store and eye the display. What kind of candy? (8:21:14 PM) Devin McCloud: I holster my weapon and take the axe. (8:21:31 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve is disappointed(?) to find that the candy display is, in fact, a jerky display (8:21:48 PM) Kyle Reid: "Oh, dried meat!" (8:21:52 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Ooh, jerky." (8:22:11 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Who wants some?" I open a packet of jerky and begin eating it. (8:23:20 PM) Kyle Reid: I grab a pack, rip it open, and check the contents.. (8:23:29 PM) William Laurence: "I'm up to some meat." (8:23:39 PM) William Laurence: I grab a pack. (8:24:07 PM) SteveMcWhat: By the light of the fire you can read the labels: "Traditional, Teriyaki, BBQ, or Smoked Beef Jerky" (8:24:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Dibs on Teriyaki." (8:24:33 PM) Kyle Reid: I start eating it. (8:24:53 PM) Clyve Fourier: I stuff a half-dozen bags into my carry-on, in addition to the one I'm eating. (8:25:00 PM) Devin McCloud: I wander over. "Anyone want an axe?" I set the axe on the counter in case someone wants it and grab a pack of traditional jerky. (8:25:21 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I take a handful of packets of the jerky and put it into my bag. (8:25:24 PM) Kyle Reid: About how much jerky is there? (8:25:39 PM) Kyle Reid: I grab a handful too. (8:25:57 PM) SteveMcWhat: All told, there are about 20 bags. (8:26:10 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "4 each?" (8:26:16 PM) Devin McCloud: "Sounds good to me." (8:26:18 PM) Kyle Reid: "Sounds good to me." (8:26:28 PM) William Laurence: "Sure." I grab my share. (8:26:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Fine." I give up two bags. (8:26:35 PM) Devin McCloud: I take four packs of jerky. (8:27:17 PM) SteveMcWhat: The jerky isn't particularly filling, but it's good to be chewing on something. It does leave you quite thirsty though (8:27:35 PM) Kyle Reid: I wash down the jerky with some of my water. (8:27:59 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "So, are we going to be staying here tonight?" (8:28:13 PM) Kyle Reid: "So, anyone want to comment on the defensibleness of this place, or should we check the houses first?" (8:28:15 PM) Devin McCloud: I search through the sacks in the corner. "Looks like. It seems reasonably secure." (8:28:45 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We should figure out locking and unlocking the doors. That way we'll be able to get out of either in case of attack." (8:28:48 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Two doors. I'd prefer the antiques shop, especially since it has alarms and only one entrance." (8:29:03 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Though I doubt the alarm would work anyways." (8:29:04 PM) Devin McCloud: "One of those doors is locked, tight." (8:29:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I begin looking for the key to the main doors, starting by looking in the lock" (8:29:15 PM) Kyle Reid left the room. (8:29:16 PM) Kyle Reid entered the room. (8:29:38 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We want two doors anyway. Suppose there was just one, and a dozen zombies camped up outisde it. We'd be hosed." (8:30:19 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "The only reason I'm here now is because back in my old place we had back door." (8:30:26 PM) Caitlin Youngs: a back door* (8:30:37 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (though I can't help sniggering :p) (8:31:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin searches as she talks, but comes up with nothing. The dark is not helping, but the proverbial needle in a haystack seems particularly appropriate here (8:31:48 PM) Kyle Reid: "Well, regardless, I'm headed to the houses." (8:32:15 PM) William Laurence: "Me too." I shrug and step outside (8:32:20 PM) Kyle Reid: I go outside. (8:32:28 PM) Devin McCloud: I continue my search of the sacks. (8:32:33 PM) Kyle Reid: and walk to the houses. (8:32:39 PM) Clyve Fourier: I follow to the houses. (8:32:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "C'mon, Devin." (8:32:57 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin concludes that the sacks hold oats and fertilizer (8:33:23 PM) Devin McCloud: "Alright, hold on, I'm coming." I follow the group out. (8:33:57 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle performs a once over of the six houses. They all are approximately the same size, probably 2-3 bedrooms and a single car garage. (8:34:08 PM) SteveMcWhat: One building does stand out. It's the only one boarded up. (8:34:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: "There might be survivors. Let's check that first." (8:34:40 PM) SteveMcWhat: (observation check?) (8:34:44 PM) Kyle Reid: I look at the boarded up house. "One of these things is not like the other." (8:34:55 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (8:34:58 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (8:35:05 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (8:35:09 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (whats the thing?) (8:35:14 PM) Clyve Fourier: "//roll-dice 1-sides 20 " (8:35:15 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (8:35:22 PM) Caitlin Youngs: saralfur rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (8:36:05 PM) Devin McCloud: "Hold on." (8:36:15 PM) Kyle Reid: I stop and look at Devin. (8:36:22 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Yeah, wait. I've never boarded up a house before, but I don't think that's how it's done." (8:36:36 PM) Devin McCloud: I draw my weapon. "Something's not right here." I whisper. "Someone boarded something IN, rather than boarding something out." (8:36:38 PM) Clyve Fourier: "It's almost like they're trying to keep someting in rather than out." (8:36:55 PM) Kyle Reid: "I say we avoid that one, then." (8:36:56 PM) William Laurence: "Well...let's hit that house last, then." (8:36:57 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm, let's just skip that house." (8:37:28 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Maybe they're keeping in puppies and chocolate fountains though?" (8:37:40 PM) SteveMcWhat: There remain five more houses, plus the church. (8:37:56 PM) Kyle Reid: I head to the next house. (8:37:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: 'How about the church next?" (8:38:37 PM) Devin McCloud: "Well, Kyle here seems to want to head for another house." I motion after Kyle, then follow him. (8:38:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Very well" I follow to the next house. (8:40:08 PM) SteveMcWhat: It's a typical house as described before. There's a sedan parked in the driveway (8:40:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the sedan. Is it operable? (8:40:34 PM) Kyle Reid: I take a close look at the sedan. (8:40:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (sedan = family car?) (8:40:52 PM) SteveMcWhat: The doors are locked, but you don't see keys in the ignition either (8:41:02 PM) Devin McCloud: I check the house. (8:41:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: (normal 4 door car) (8:41:31 PM) Kyle Reid: I follow Devin. (8:41:45 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the garage for useful tools (8:41:46 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door to the house is locked. There are windows. (8:41:57 PM) Devin McCloud: Are the windows locked? (8:42:30 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve pulls up the garage door. (8:42:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin discovers the windows are unlocked (8:43:00 PM) Devin McCloud: I open one and climb inside. (8:43:17 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Is the garage separate from the house?) (8:43:29 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds himself in the living room (you have the lighter right?) (8:43:33 PM) Devin McCloud: (Yes) (8:43:34 PM) Kyle Reid: I wait for a moment while Devin makes sure it's safe and then follow. (8:43:35 PM) SteveMcWhat: (The garage is attached) (8:43:48 PM) William Laurence: I walk into the garage and check the door leading to the house (8:43:59 PM) Clyve Fourier: "There's probably an unlocked door in the garage. No need to be climbing in windows." (8:44:06 PM) Devin McCloud: I search through the house quickly for any signs of life. (8:44:10 PM) SteveMcWhat: The garage-house door is unlocked (8:44:22 PM) Clyve Fourier: I open and shut it a few times. "See?" (8:44:23 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin's search turns up no signs of life. (8:44:34 PM) Clyve Fourier: (brb) (8:44:37 PM) William Laurence: I look around the garage for a flashlight or something. (8:44:54 PM) William Laurence: *something else useful (8:45:03 PM) Devin McCloud: Alright, then search it for any food or supplies. (8:45:05 PM) Devin McCloud: (Roll?) (8:45:16 PM) SteveMcWhat: (go for it) (8:45:17 PM) William Laurence: (hands are slower than brain today) (8:45:18 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (8:45:30 PM) William Laurence: I'll roll too, I guess. (8:45:35 PM) Kyle Reid: Once I'm in, I search top to bottom, espessially for clean water. (8:45:39 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (8:45:46 PM) Kyle Reid: I'll search too. (8:45:47 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (8:45:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds a shelf with several boxes on it, but is disappointed to find that they contain laundry detergent rather than food (8:45:59 PM) William Laurence: (well so much for that) (8:46:25 PM) SteveMcWhat: William turns up nothing. (8:46:42 PM) Devin McCloud: Small boxes of laundry detergent? (8:47:12 PM) SteveMcWhat: Yeah. (8:47:22 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I enter and look around. Any bottled/canned drinks, or blankets, or first aid equipment? (8:47:23 PM) William Laurence: Well, I head inside then (8:47:39 PM) Devin McCloud: I take a box. (8:47:54 PM) Caitlin Youngs entered the room. (8:47:59 PM) Devin McCloud: (Hiyachim) (8:48:01 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Hi all) (8:48:39 PM) SteveMcWhat: The garage door leads to a hallway that opens up on the living room. There's also a closed door across from you (8:49:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: Your searches of the garage turn up nothing else of use. Besides the washer/dryer it's mostly empty. (8:49:57 PM) Devin McCloud: I head for that door. (8:50:18 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (sorry,i thought the whole house was clear, cus of Nioca's search through it) (8:50:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin heads to the kitchen on her quest for food. (8:51:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: She finds an opened box of cereal on top of the refrigerator. The pantry has been mostly cleared out, but there's a box of poptarts and some pasta (8:51:37 PM) William Laurence: I follow her. (8:51:42 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow as well. (8:51:56 PM) SteveMcWhat: The refrigerator smells of spoiled milk. There's a jug filled with water though. (8:52:03 PM) Kyle Reid: I'm with them I guess. (8:52:18 PM) Kyle Reid: I grab the water. (8:53:19 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We should only drink sealed stuff. A doctor told me when this all started." (8:53:24 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I take the poptarts. (8:53:32 PM) William Laurence: I grab the pasta. (8:54:06 PM) Kyle Reid: I take a close look at the water. Is there a seal and does it look safe to drink? (8:54:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Not sealed it's like a britta filter, it was probably filled from the tap at some point. It doesn't have any particulate or anything in it though) (8:55:16 PM) Kyle Reid: (wait, it has a filter on it?) (8:55:49 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Do you know what a britta is? it's supposed to make tap water taste better, i don't know if it actually cleans it though) (8:56:32 PM) SteveMcWhat: (brita*) (8:56:46 PM) Kyle Reid: (Yeah, I know what a brita is. I'm just... never mind.) (8:57:34 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Google says it doesn't actually purify) (8:57:48 PM) Kyle Reid: (Ok. That's what I was wondering) (8:58:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: There are three bedrooms remaining, a bathroom and a living room. (8:59:02 PM) SteveMcWhat: Split up or stay together? (8:59:11 PM) William Laurence: I check the bathroom for medical supplies (8:59:12 PM) Kyle Reid: I start rummaging through the bathroom. (8:59:16 PM) Devin McCloud: (I'd say split up. We can cover more ground) (8:59:22 PM) Devin McCloud: I check one of the bedrooms. (8:59:54 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I check another bedroom, still looking for blankets and first aid stuff in particular, but anything seemingly useful in general. (9:00:00 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle turns up soap, shampoo, a bottle of disinfectant, and deodorant. (9:00:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds that his bedroom has actually been converted to an office. There's a desk with a computer (9:00:41 PM) Clyve Fourier: (back, sorry) (9:00:55 PM) Kyle Reid: I take all of those. (9:01:00 PM) Devin McCloud: I rummage through the desk. (9:01:20 PM) Devin McCloud: (Uh...) (9:01:25 PM) Clyve Fourier: (For the reference, Brita filters do work. They make my water quite tasty) (9:02:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin finds herself in the master bedroom. There's a walk in closet with clothes for either sex. The bed is still made up, so there's pillows sheets and a blanket. (9:02:42 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check any rooms that haven't been checked. (Have they all been searched? (9:03:12 PM) Kyle Reid: (I think we left a bedroom.) (9:03:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's one remaining room. It looks too immaculate to be lived in, probably a guest room. The bed is made. (9:03:37 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I take the blanket and a set of clothes for myself. Nice ones. (9:03:41 PM) Devin McCloud: I'm still desk rummaging. (9:03:44 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (assuming they're a fit) (9:03:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: I search the guest room. (9:03:50 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Roll?) (9:04:14 PM) William Laurence: I take a change of clothes, if any fit decently. (9:04:29 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin turns up normal desk supplies, staplers and the like. Behind the computer monitor he finds a naughty magazine (9:05:17 PM) Devin McCloud: Any batteries in there? (9:05:18 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve looks high and low in the guest room, but finds nothing significant. There are spare linens stored beneath the bed (9:05:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Nobody's tured up any firearms, have you?" (9:06:00 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's a remote with triple a batteries. also a penlight (9:06:09 PM) Kyle Reid: "Not yet." (9:06:27 PM) Devin McCloud: I take the penlight and also see if the batteries are compatible with my flashlight. (9:06:34 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hey, now that you've got a penlite, can I have my lighter back?" (9:06:59 PM) Devin McCloud: (Aren't you in the other room?) (9:07:02 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin's flashlight is one of the hefty police variety. It runs on d cells. (9:07:19 PM) Devin McCloud: I take the Triple A batteries anyway. (9:07:20 PM) Clyve Fourier: (I wandered back after my search turned up nothing.) (9:07:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: I light up another cigarette. (9:07:36 PM) Devin McCloud: I hand the lighter over to him and use the penlight. (9:08:10 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin's rumaging in the master bedroom turned up a trunk under the bed (9:08:17 PM) Devin McCloud: I then sit down at the computer and see if I can't boot it up. (9:08:59 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Ooh,! I open the trunk! (9:09:18 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin's efforts are fruitless. The power is out, and the battery backup is dead as well (9:09:50 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin opens up the trunk and gasps. There's a pair of handcuffs, a whip, and a full body leather suit. (9:09:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: (lol) (9:10:08 PM) Devin McCloud: I stand back up again and head to the master bedroom. (9:10:29 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Will it fit me? (9:10:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: It looks like it was made for a man. (9:10:52 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Leather is gonna be harder to bite into than my skin) (9:10:53 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Aww (9:11:27 PM) SteveMcWhat: the owner was probably between 5'8 and 6'0 (9:12:11 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I stop looking at the suit before I discover more facts about the owner. (9:12:13 PM) Devin McCloud: I peer over into the trunk. "That's, um... huh." (9:12:22 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Anything else inside the trunk? (9:12:22 PM) William Laurence: "kinky." (9:12:25 PM) Devin McCloud: What kind of handcuffs are in there? (9:12:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Probably the fuzzy kind) (9:12:57 PM) SteveMcWhat: The handcuffs are lined with pink fur, but they actually appear to be solid metal. (9:13:18 PM) SteveMcWhat: The key is in the lock (9:13:34 PM) Devin McCloud: "Do you mind if I take those?" I point at the handcuffs. (9:13:45 PM) Clyve Fourier: I wander up the the master bedroom, where people seem to be congregating. (9:15:27 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "I certainly don't want them." (9:15:42 PM) Kyle Reid: "Is that everywhere?" (9:15:48 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I like my lab coat. It sends a much clearer message." (9:16:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: You've covered the whole house now (9:16:17 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Next house, or the church?" (9:16:26 PM) Kyle Reid: "I say next house." (9:16:51 PM) William Laurence: I grab the whip and head out. (9:16:53 PM) Devin McCloud: I grab the handcuffs and pocket them. "My partner absconded with my last pair, but these look sturdy enough. Even if they are covered in fur." (9:17:15 PM) Kyle Reid: I walk out of that house and head for the next. (9:17:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: I chuckle softly and take a pull on my cigarette. (9:17:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: I follow. (9:17:32 PM) William Laurence: "Your...partner?" I roll my eyes "Texas cops..." (9:17:33 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow as well. (9:17:47 PM) Devin McCloud: "Not that kind of partner!" (9:18:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Who are you planning on arresting?" (9:18:29 PM) Devin McCloud: "Not really planning, but it's good to be prepared on the off-chance, don't you think?" (9:18:35 PM) SteveMcWhat: The next house looks much like the first from the outside, except there's no car. (9:19:42 PM) Kyle Reid: "Shall we start with the garage again?" (9:19:54 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Why not." I open the garage door. (9:19:55 PM) William Laurence: "Might as well" I try opening the garage door. (9:19:57 PM) Devin McCloud: "If you like. I'd rather note crawl through another window. (9:19:59 PM) Devin McCloud: " (9:20:16 PM) SteveMcWhat: The garage door opens (9:20:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: There is no car inside the garage either. (9:20:36 PM) Clyve Fourier: I search the garage for useful tools. (9:20:41 PM) William Laurence: I again look around for anyhting usefull (9:20:43 PM) Devin McCloud: I head for the door into the house. (9:20:44 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 12 (9:20:56 PM) Kyle Reid: I look around the garage. Rolling search. (9:20:57 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 18 (9:21:25 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle find a tool chest, which includes a power drill, drill bits, hammer, wrenchset, screwdrivers. (9:21:50 PM) Kyle Reid: Does the drill work? (9:21:52 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve finds a lawnmower and weedwhacker. There's a small tank of fuel (9:22:32 PM) Clyve Fourier: "The fuel might come in useful, I suppose." (Does it look like gas, or a gas/oil mixture?) (9:22:37 PM) SteveMcWhat: The drill is battery opperated, and charges on ac power. you fire it up briefly, and it whirs to life. (9:23:06 PM) Kyle Reid: "Hey, we got juice! Anyone see a need for a power drill?" (9:23:18 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Oh, that would be sweet to kill one of those zombies with." (9:23:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Could be useful for breaking into buildings." (9:23:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: it's hard to tell just by looking, but it's a small can, you're guessing it's for the weedwhacker, which requires a fuel mixture. (9:23:49 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm, so we couldn't use this on the car. Damn." (9:24:02 PM) Devin McCloud: I head into the house. (9:24:08 PM) Kyle Reid: I take the drill, bits, and screwdriver. (9:24:21 PM) William Laurence: I follow Devin (9:24:39 PM) SteveMcWhat: No signs of life in the house. It's in a state of considerable disarray though (9:24:40 PM) Kyle Reid: I follow the others into the house. (9:25:00 PM) Clyve Fourier: I head to the master bedroom and start searching. (9:25:21 PM) William Laurence: I head into the kitchen and look for more food/water (9:25:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 19 (9:25:33 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (9:25:39 PM) Kyle Reid: I go looking for the bathroom. (9:25:41 PM) William Laurence: (really, dice?) (9:25:54 PM) Devin McCloud: I search one of the guest bedrooms. (9:26:01 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 19 (9:26:31 PM) SteveMcWhat: It looks like somebody took everything out of all the shelves and drawers in the kitchen, then forgot to put it back. except the food. you find no food in the mess (9:27:01 PM) William Laurence: "Someone's been here already!" I yell to the others (9:27:32 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve has somewhat better luck in the master bed. There's a gunbox open on the bed, which is conspicuously missing a gun. There is a clip of pistol bullets that went unnoticed though (9:27:41 PM) William Laurence left the room. (9:27:44 PM) Clyve Fourier: I grab the bullets. How many? (9:27:51 PM) SteveMcWhat: (1 clip, 10 bullets) (9:28:10 PM) William Laurence entered the room. (9:28:14 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, these could come in handy." (9:28:20 PM) Clyve Fourier: I pocket the clip. (9:28:37 PM) SteveMcWhat: The bedroom that devin searches is more lived in than that of the last house. it looks like a young girl's room (9:28:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: Under the bed is a diary (9:28:51 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Well, we should probably look for whoever took that gun." (9:29:23 PM) Devin McCloud: I grab the diary, sit down on the bed, and read some of the later entries. (9:31:31 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin flips to the last page. Written in a childish hand, it reads: "Mom says we have to leave town today with everyone else. I asked her if I could ride in the car with Jenny, but they said Jenny was too sick, she wasn't coming. I begged to stay to keep her company but mom started crying. Mom's crying a lot lately, and she fought with dad yesterday. I heard, even though the door was closed." (9:33:43 PM) Devin McCloud: I close the diary. (9:33:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (you're a terrible person, Devin) (9:33:58 PM) Devin McCloud: Then I head back out into the hallway. (9:34:36 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Okay, so have we checked this house properly?" (9:34:53 PM) Kyle Reid: (did I find anything in the bathroom?) (9:34:59 PM) SteveMcWhat: The remaining bedroom belonged to a young boy. There's a hockey stick, baseball glove, and bat. (9:35:20 PM) SteveMcWhat: The bathroom has soap, shampoo, towels, toiletpaper. The medicine cabinet is empty htough (9:35:29 PM) Devin McCloud: "This bedroom's clear." (9:35:42 PM) Kyle Reid: I walk out and join the others. (9:37:20 PM) Caitlin Youngs: If nobody else makes a move for it, I take the baseball bat. Is it wood or metal? (9:37:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: "So the next house, then?" (9:37:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: It's aluminum. (9:37:45 PM) Kyle Reid: "If we're done here, yeah." (9:37:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Cool. I'll put my frying pan into my backpack and have my bat in my hand. (9:38:51 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Do you think we should rest for tonight? Either in the chapel or the store? I'm tired - I walked a fairly long way down here, and all we're doing is picking through house after house." (9:38:54 PM) SteveMcWhat: Four houses remain, including the boarded up one. Plus the church. It's beginning to grow late. (9:39:15 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Anything still here will be there in the morning." (9:39:26 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I say we check the churce and then rest- the rest f the houses are unlikely to miraculously be filled with massive heavy weapons and ammo" (9:39:42 PM) Kyle Reid: "Actually, the chruch might not be a bad idea. Let's go there next." (9:39:53 PM) Kyle Reid: I walk out of the house. (9:40:08 PM) Devin McCloud: "I think checking one more place might be prudent, but we'll need to call it a night after. I don't like the idea of walking around town at night." (9:40:09 PM) William Laurence: I follow. (9:40:20 PM) Devin McCloud: I head out and head for the church. (9:41:02 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "It's already night, you do realise?" (9:41:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: You approach the church. It has double wooden doors (9:41:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: Any windows? (9:41:34 PM) Devin McCloud: (I thought it was evening) (9:41:40 PM) Kyle Reid: I try the doors. (9:41:52 PM) SteveMcWhat: The door is unlocked (9:42:16 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (from the intro: Dark was falling as you approached McLean. You didn't relish the prospect of entering a zombie infested town after dark) (9:42:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: (It's about midnight now) (9:42:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (ooh, perfect :p) (9:43:06 PM) Devin McCloud: (And yet my point about not walking around at night still stands. :P ) (9:43:34 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Somebody go first. I haven't got a light." (9:43:47 PM) Devin McCloud: I enter, gun and penlight aloft. (9:44:06 PM) William Laurence: I unling my rifle and follow cautiously. (9:44:36 PM) SteveMcWhat: This simple chapel looks like it could sit about 40 people if all the pews were full. There is a row of narrow stainglass windows about 10 feet up, at the meeting between the wall and the sloped roof. Besides the door that you came through, the only other possible entry is a door in the back-right corner. (9:44:43 PM) Kyle Reid: I wait a moment and then follow our two gun bearers. (9:44:52 PM) Clyve Fourier: I do the same. (9:45:01 PM) Devin McCloud: I head for the door in the back corner, staying alert. (9:45:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: (brb again) (9:46:26 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Is there anything that looks heavy enough to barricade the doors? (9:46:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: If you can move the pews, they would certainly work. (9:47:26 PM) SteveMcWhat: The back door leads to a small room with a cot, dresser, and closet. (9:47:45 PM) Devin McCloud: I step in and open the closet. (9:47:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: That was my next question: are they fixed in place, or are they pushable. I assume they can be moved? (9:48:31 PM) SteveMcWhat: The closet contains about 7 sets of the same all black outfit. It looks like the reverend's clothes (9:48:52 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Anybody care to impersonate a priest?" (9:48:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: They can be. Although you all are sort of weaklings. You can manage with difficulty (9:49:06 PM) Devin McCloud: I holster my weapon and look through the dresser, then. (9:49:06 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the dresser. (9:49:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's a bible on top, and the reverend's underclothes inside. There's also a box of candles and incense (9:50:28 PM) William Laurence: "So, I'm guessing we're staying here tonight?" (9:50:55 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Yeah, it's safe, out of the way, and we can block up the door there if we work together." (9:50:58 PM) Kyle Reid: "I was just about to suggest that." (9:51:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "It's either this, or traipse back to the feed store." (9:51:31 PM) Devin McCloud: "Sounds fair to me. Staying here, that is." (9:52:05 PM) William Laurence: "Well, let's start a barricade, then" I gesture towards the pews (9:52:34 PM) Clyve Fourier: I make a quick tactical assessment of the location. What else besidebarricading it can make it safer? (Tactics) (9:52:35 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (9:53:00 PM) Devin McCloud: I move towards a pew near the door. (9:53:07 PM) SteveMcWhat: Barricading should be sufficient to keep zombies out. (9:53:20 PM) SteveMcWhat: (In your opinion. At least you can't think of anything better) (9:53:25 PM) Kyle Reid: I help them barricade the door. (9:53:41 PM) Devin McCloud: I push a pew over to the door to barricade it. Preferably with some help. (9:53:50 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I stand back and watch. (9:53:52 PM) William Laurence: I give help. (9:54:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Can I remake the check if I use my perk?) (9:54:34 PM) SteveMcWhat: With some grunting and sweating you push several pews against the door (9:55:08 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Um I'm going to say no. But you could use it retroactively with the same roll I guess) (9:55:21 PM) SteveMcWhat: (So you can upgrade to an 8) (9:55:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Okay. I'll pass, then) (9:56:10 PM) Devin McCloud: I find a pew that isn't part of the barricade. "We'll need a couple people on watch tonight. A barricade's well and good, but it won't help too much if we're all asleep when the zombies try to get in." (9:56:16 PM) Clyve Fourier: (damnit, brb again. What is it with these people calling me?) (9:56:55 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "I can take a watch, I guess." (9:57:22 PM) Devin McCloud: "I'll take one as well." (9:57:29 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I throw my blanket over one of the pews furthest from the door, so that the space underneath is completely covered. (9:57:33 PM) Kyle Reid: "I guess I can too." (9:58:40 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Well, wake me when it's my turn." (9:58:52 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I slip inside the fort I've made and fall silent. (9:59:00 PM) Devin McCloud: I sit on a pew near the door and take first watch. (9:59:23 PM) Kyle Reid: I take out my bundle of shirts and use it as a pillow. (9:59:31 PM) Kyle Reid: "Wake me in a couple hours." (9:59:53 PM) SteveMcWhat: (I'm going to take the liberty of assuming that william and clyve go to sleep as well) (10:00:09 PM) Clyve Fourier: Yeah. Back, sorry (10:00:30 PM) SteveMcWhat: The night passes uneventfully. You wake up the next morning feeling well rested. (10:01:35 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. That was the frst good sleep I've had in a while." (10:01:52 PM) Devin McCloud: I get up and stretch a bit. (10:01:59 PM) Kyle Reid: "Speak for yourself," I say grumpily. (10:02:45 PM) Devin McCloud: "Well, there's not much point in just sitting around." I start trying to push the pew barricade out of the way. (10:02:53 PM) Kyle Reid: "We all still in one piece?" (10:03:19 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, we want to search the antiques store and the est of the houses?" (10:03:45 PM) Clyve Fourier: "No reason we can't simply break the windows now that ti's unlikely we'll get jumped by zombies." (10:03:48 PM) William Laurence: "Sure" I help push pews (10:03:55 PM) Kyle Reid: "Let's start with the houses. We might find something that makes getting into the store easier." (10:04:13 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I roll out from under my pew and pack my blanket away. "They only come out at night-time?" (10:04:39 PM) Devin McCloud: "We're more likely to see them coming." I continue my pew pushing. (10:04:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "My point is not to just blunder outside without making sure nothing is there." (10:04:58 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Do they? I'd presume they're more-or-less active, just less dangerous at day due to the loss of the element of suprise) (10:05:09 PM) SteveMcWhat: You clear the pews from the door. (10:05:32 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (There's no reason why they wouldn't. It's not like they're vampiric, that we know of) (10:05:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Zombies don't have any aversion to sunlight.) (10:05:51 PM) Kyle Reid: (I gotta grab a bite to eat. brb.) (10:06:12 PM) Devin McCloud: I cautiously peer out the door. (10:06:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: The city is as quiet as it was the night before. No signs of movement (10:06:58 PM) Devin McCloud: I step outside. (10:07:05 PM) William Laurence: "Let's hit the antiques first" (10:07:33 PM) William Laurence: "Unless y'all want to search more houses?" (10:07:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We should be careful. I lost a friend the first night after this because he was too confident in the sunlight. He didn't stand a chance." (10:08:01 PM) SteveMcWhat: You step out into the sunlight. You notice the sign out front of the church, which you couldn't read last night. It reads: "McLean Church of Christ." Beneath is a changeable letter board, which currently reads "Gone to Texola" (10:08:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Texola- where's that?" (10:08:44 PM) Devin McCloud: "Dunno. This is the farthest I've ever been from Amarillo." (10:08:44 PM) Kyle Reid: (back) (10:09:36 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Wait. It's to the east, abut 30 miles. I remember a sign I saw on my way here." (10:10:02 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Let's finish searching this town before we head out, though. If we head out." (10:10:06 PM) Devin McCloud: "Well, let's finish up here before we move on." (10:11:49 PM) Clyve Fourier: I head to the third house and check the garage. (10:11:55 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow Clyve. (10:12:16 PM) William Laurence: I follow. (10:12:17 PM) SteveMcWhat: The garage door is locked. (10:12:27 PM) Devin McCloud: Try the front door. (10:12:34 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, that's a suprise." I check the back door. (10:12:50 PM) William Laurence: I try the windows. (10:12:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: Front door also locked. The back sliding glass door, however, is unlocked (10:13:16 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hey, it's unlocked back here!" (10:13:22 PM) Devin McCloud: I head around back. (10:13:23 PM) William Laurence: I head around back (10:13:25 PM) Kyle Reid: I head around back. (10:14:30 PM) SteveMcWhat: The situation in this house is must like the last you visited. The owners look like they hurriedly packed up most of what they considered essential (10:14:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: "So, Devin, think you could clear the house? I'm a bit reluctant to go in first until I find a replacement gun..." (10:14:52 PM) Devin McCloud: "Sure thing." I draw my weapon and sweep the house for signs of life or unlife. (10:14:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "What kind of Doctor carries a gun anyway?" (10:15:09 PM) Clyve Fourier: "The kind that's still alive." (10:15:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin turns up nothing. (10:15:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "...and yet you don't have one?" (10:16:02 PM) William Laurence: I head in and check the bathroom. (10:16:05 PM) Devin McCloud: "Looks clear." I call to the others. (10:16:17 PM) Devin McCloud: I then head upstairs and search the master bedroom. (10:16:21 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Seems like an odd ploy for a zombie - pretending to be alive." (10:16:21 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (10:16:23 PM) Kyle Reid: I go in and rummage through the kitchen. Rolling search. (10:16:25 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (10:16:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: "It jammed and backfiredon my a few days ago. I wrote it off as junk and left it by the side of the road." (10:16:48 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I look around the house for any medicines. (10:16:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: saralfur rolled 1 20-sided die: 18 (10:16:55 PM) Clyve Fourier: I search the master bedroom again. (10:16:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 10 (10:17:02 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (that is how you roll) (10:17:12 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (10:17:42 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I'm willing to bet guns would be stored in eiher the master bedroom or the garage, and the garage might also have usful tools." (10:17:51 PM) William Laurence: (why do I even bother rolling?) (10:17:53 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Do I still have the power drill? Did I take it?) (10:18:06 PM) SteveMcWhat: The kitchen is devoid of non perishables. Kyle does notice a fire extinguisher (10:18:07 PM) Kyle Reid: (I thought I took it.) (10:18:20 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Yeah, that's right.) (10:18:40 PM) Kyle Reid: "Anyone want a fire extinguisher?" (10:18:52 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds an alarm clock, which contains a 9volt battery. Also clothes and linens. (10:19:10 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve has nothing to add on the bedroom front. (10:19:25 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Fire extinguishers are highly pressurized. We could use it as a explosive with some improvization." (10:19:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Might come in handy." (10:19:37 PM) Devin McCloud: Any of the clothes in my size? (10:19:42 PM) William Laurence: "Or to bash zombies in the face with." (10:19:46 PM) Kyle Reid: "You can carry it then." (10:19:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the garage, then. (10:19:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "They're also cumbersome. I wouldn't want to carry it." (10:19:57 PM) Kyle Reid: I head to the garage. (10:20:10 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin makes a bee line for the medicine cabinet. She finds some eyedrops, as well as a bottle of aspirin (10:20:18 PM) Caitlin Youngs: *takes* (10:21:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve finds a washer/dryer, as well as an old clunker of a ford pickup truck. Parts are lying all over the floor, this thing looks like a repair job in progress (10:22:14 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the parts. ANnything useful there? (10:22:19 PM) SteveMcWhat: (The clothes would fit Devin yes.) (10:22:57 PM) SteveMcWhat: They look like old parts that came off the truck. You do find a new sparkplug that looks like it was going to be installed next. (10:23:54 PM) Devin McCloud: I close the door and change out of uniform and into a different set of clothing. I also look for a pack or something that could work as one, since I'm lacking anything other than pockets. (10:24:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Eh, I suppose I could jury rig it with the nine-volt, but why bother when I've got a ligther?" (10:24:43 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds an old empty briefcase, and a duffel bag. (10:25:42 PM) Devin McCloud: I take the duffel bag and put my old uniform into it. (10:27:17 PM) Devin McCloud: Then I check one of the other bedrooms. (10:27:19 PM) Devin McCloud: (Roll again?) (10:27:21 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check any remaining rooms while Devin changes. (10:27:22 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 20 (10:27:35 PM) Devin McCloud: (Er, nevermind, then) (10:28:32 PM) SteveMcWhat: One of the remaining rooms appears to have belonged to a pair of young boys. There are bunk beds, as well as matching dressers. You find several model airplanes, as well as a remote controlled car. (10:30:06 PM) SteveMcWhat: The second room looks like a teenager's room. The walls are covered in posters, and you notice the lightbulbs have been replaced with blacklights. You find a pipe burried in the back of the dresser (10:32:03 PM) SteveMcWhat: (That's it.) (10:32:03 PM) Devin McCloud: "Find anything?" I call, coming out of the master bedroom. (10:32:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Drugs, apparently. I'll stick to cigarettes myself." (10:32:26 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Making a sandwich. brb) (10:36:19 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Back) (10:36:49 PM) William Laurence: "So...next house?" (10:36:53 PM) Devin McCloud: "Let's move on, then." I exit the house and head for the next one. (10:37:04 PM) William Laurence: I follow (10:37:06 PM) Kyle Reid: I leave and head to the next house. (10:37:45 PM) Clyve Fourier: Follow. (10:38:43 PM) SteveMcWhat: You arrive at the next house. You're pleased to find that the tried and true garage trick works here. (10:39:12 PM) William Laurence: Bedroom check. (10:39:13 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 6 (10:39:19 PM) Devin McCloud: I do my standard sweep for life. If nothing turns up, I then go up and search the master bedroom (10:39:20 PM) Caitlin Youngs: This is the last before the boarded one, yeah? (10:39:24 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 11 (10:39:35 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the garage. (10:39:36 PM) SteveMcWhat: (I think so?) (10:39:42 PM) Kyle Reid: I'll head to one of the bedroom and look through it. (10:39:42 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 17 (10:39:44 PM) Devin McCloud: (Yeah, I think so too) (10:39:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 9 (10:40:13 PM) nicothodes9 entered the room. (10:40:19 PM) Devin McCloud: (Hiya, Nicothodes) (10:40:24 PM) nicothodes9: (hi) (10:40:56 PM) SteveMcWhat: Devin finds no zombies. The master bedroom is fairly standard. There are hooks over the bed, perhaps where a rifle once hung. But nothing is there now (10:41:25 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Food? Drink? (10:41:26 PM) Caitlin Youngs: saralfur rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (10:42:00 PM) SteveMcWhat: Will finds that one of the bedrooms has been converted into a gym. There's a bench, a barbell, dumbells, plates. Theres also a bottle of protein powder. (10:42:29 PM) William Laurence: I take the powder. (10:42:42 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin finds a box of granola bars in the back of the pantry that the original owners must have overlooked. There's also an open can of coffee grinds. (10:43:00 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Used? Or useable) (10:43:06 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I'll take just the granola bars. (10:44:01 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle checks the remaining bedroom, which is a nursery. Besides the standard baby supplies, he finds some baby food. (10:44:06 PM) Clyve Fourier: (The grinds, that is) (10:44:20 PM) SteveMcWhat: (The coffee is usable. There's about half a can left) (10:44:44 PM) Kyle Reid: "I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not desperate enough to eat baby food yet." (10:44:50 PM) Clyve Fourier: I take the coffe. "Hm, coffee, cigarettes, now we just need some alcohol and we'll be good." (10:45:12 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Because getting drunk is the best idea right now?" (10:45:22 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (brb, real quick) (10:45:29 PM) Devin McCloud: Since no one else is, I do a quick sweep of the bathroom for any medicinal supplies. (10:45:35 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (10:45:44 PM) Clyve Fourier: "No, then we'll have society's three favorite drugs on hand!" (10:45:47 PM) SteveMcWhat: (I thought this was weird too, but I've heard from multiple people (college students) that they'll just eat baby food as a snack) (10:46:05 PM) Kyle Reid: I go to the bathroom and look through it. (10:46:29 PM) SteveMcWhat: Offer McCloud turns up nothing in the bathroom (10:47:41 PM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle doesn't have much more luck. There is some woman's makeup though. (10:47:56 PM) SteveMcWhat: *Officer McCloud (10:47:57 PM) Clyve Fourier: "That's everything, right? Just the antiques store and we'll blow this popsicle stand?" (10:48:21 PM) Devin McCloud: "Yep, sounds about right." I head out for the antiques store. (10:48:25 PM) William Laurence: "Except the boarded up house, yeah." (10:48:29 PM) William Laurence: I follow. (10:48:39 PM) Clyve Fourier: "We'll skip the zombie house." (10:48:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Alternatley, we could burn it down." (10:48:47 PM) Kyle Reid: I follow them to the store. (10:48:48 PM) Caitlin Youngs: bk (10:49:11 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hey, I could use that drill to r and force thedoor. Coulkd I see it for a moment?" (10:49:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Ech, I have terrible typing skills tonight." (10:49:33 PM) Clyve Fourier: *() (10:49:39 PM) Kyle Reid: "Sure." I hand the drill to Clyve. (10:50:02 PM) Kyle Reid: "I've got a screwdriver too, if that helps." (10:50:06 PM) Clyve Fourier: I use my perk and try t open the door without tripping the alarm. (ENGN, +4) (10:50:26 PM) SteveMcWhat: Roll? (10:51:07 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 13 (10:51:29 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Sweet, a DC of 20. That should work...) (10:52:37 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve carefully drills out the lock, then inserts a piece of metal at the top of the door to keep the alarm from tripping. (10:53:21 PM) Clyve Fourier: "There you go. Let it never be said a college education dosen't include knowledge applicable in a zombie apocalypse." (10:53:34 PM) Clyve Fourier: I open the door and gesture everyone in. (10:53:40 PM) Devin McCloud: I enter. (10:53:46 PM) Kyle Reid: I go inside. (10:53:51 PM) William Laurence: I enter. (10:54:44 PM) Clyve Fourier: I do a quick sweep of the store for any weapons. (10:54:48 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 19 (10:55:08 PM) William Laurence: I look for anything that might be remotely useful. (10:55:09 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 17 (10:55:10 PM) Kyle Reid: I look through the antiques for anything useful. (10:55:11 PM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (10:55:11 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's an antique writing desk in one of the display windows, and a china set on a mahogany end table in the other. There are quilts hanging from one of the walls, and more silver and china in display cases around the room. (10:55:24 PM) William Laurence: (O.o is that a decent roll from my dice???) (10:55:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyde's eyes light up when they catch on a relic mounted on the wall. It's an old naval cutlass, as an officer might have once born. The edge appears quite dull. (10:56:10 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Might be worth taking the silver and a quilt - we may need to barter if we find other survivors." (10:56:19 PM) Devin McCloud: Is it just the one room, or are their others leading off of this one? (10:56:35 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Napoleonic-era British Navy officer's cutlass. Quite valuable, if uttely useless right now." (10:56:48 PM) nicothodes9: (haha, "once born." ouch) (10:57:28 PM) SteveMcWhat: William spots a collection of antique coins. Many are silver, a few of the smaller ones are gold. (10:57:39 PM) SteveMcWhat: (It's just one room. And also nyuk nyuk Nico, I get it.) (10:58:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check for a safe or something used to store more obvious valuables, too. (10:58:19 PM) Devin McCloud: I also check around for anything that might be useful. (10:58:22 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (10:58:27 PM) William Laurence: I gather them up and pocket them (10:58:36 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Take the coins. They could come in handy. Stick with the gold, if possible." (10:58:40 PM) Devin McCloud: (Well, I suppose it's appropriate that I roll double 2s. :P ) (10:59:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: "If we're lucky, people won't have figured out that gold is just another fiat currency now yet." (10:59:43 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hey, anybody want a par of earrings?" I offer up the pair of earrings. (10:59:50 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's no safe, and the cash register has been cleared out. (10:59:56 PM) Devin McCloud: "Er, no thanks." (11:00:02 PM) William Laurence: Did clive take the sword? (11:00:15 PM) Clyve Fourier: I did not. (11:02:31 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, the gold and silver are useful, if less so than, say, a gun. Ready to head out?" (11:02:54 PM) Devin McCloud: "Yeah, it's not like there's a whole lot else, unless we want to risk that boarded up house." (11:02:59 PM) Kyle Reid: "I don't see anything else of use." (11:03:16 PM) Kyle Reid: "I'm not going anywhere near that house." (11:03:29 PM) Clyve Fourier: I think back to all the houses we've visited. Did they have a identical floorplan? (11:03:44 PM) SteveMcWhat: Yes. (11:03:58 PM) William Laurence: Was there a car in front of the boarded-up house? (11:04:11 PM) SteveMcWhat: Yes. A station wagon. (11:04:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: Okay. I use Tactics to try and see if there's some sort of battle plan that would allow us to be able to clear out the boarded-up house with ease, like chokepoints etc. (11:04:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (11:05:11 PM) William Laurence: I head over in front of the boarded house, and check out the sttation wagon. Is it locked, etc.? (11:05:29 PM) Devin McCloud: I follow William, drawing my gun just in case. (11:05:35 PM) SteveMcWhat: Your best plan is to bust open the house somehow, and draw the zombies out into the yard, and take up defensive positions outside. (Assuming there are zombies) (11:05:45 PM) Caitlin Youngs: If Clyve is willing to work with me, I'll add my tactical knowledge to his. (11:05:46 PM) Caitlin Youngs: saralfur rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (11:05:48 PM) SteveMcWhat: The car is locked. (11:05:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (bah) (11:05:52 PM) William Laurence: Same. (11:05:54 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (11:06:00 PM) Kyle Reid: I stop at the other side of the street and watch the others. (11:06:10 PM) William Laurence: (what great help we are :P) (11:06:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. We culd set up a chokepoint in the house, draw te ut into a killzone, and then somehow kil them. Use the station wagon as a battering ram? The gas? The fire extinguisher? Hmmm..." (11:06:29 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin has little to contribute. There are metal trash cans on the side of the house, they could serve as a barrier. (11:07:09 PM) William Laurence: "Well, unless y'all want to hoof it to wherever, let's hope there's keys in that house." (11:07:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the gas tanks on the two cars. Are they full? Empty? (11:07:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: (How do you propose to check without looking at the gauge?) (11:08:36 PM) William Laurence: I look over at Clyve. "Instead of wasting the gas we might need to get out of here, why don't we just shoot any zombies that come out? There can't be that many..." (11:09:03 PM) Devin McCloud: "Oh, there's famous last words if I've ever heard 'em." (11:09:26 PM) Devin McCloud: "Clyve, you think you can hotwire a car?" (11:09:30 PM) William Laurence: "My point still stands. Let's save what fuel we can." (11:09:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: "We don't know how much gas there is. If there's a half gallon, it'd be better to use it to kill zombies than driving three miles." (11:09:49 PM) Clyve Fourier: "I could. I'd need tools, but I'm sure we could salvage them from the pickup." (11:10:22 PM) Devin McCloud: "Alright, I'll be right back." I run off to one of the regular houses. (11:11:07 PM) Clyve Fourier: While he's gone, I attempt to open one of the car doors, suing the drill and screwdriver. (ENGN) (11:11:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 9 (11:11:38 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Really, what's going to be in there that wasn't in the other houses?" (11:11:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: You don't manage to open the car (11:11:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Zombies." (11:11:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Damn, I need more tools." (11:12:29 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "I see. And we want to give them a free shot at lunch for what?" (11:12:39 PM) Devin McCloud: I come back to the party. "Alright, if I remember this correctly..." (11:12:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, actually I was considering using the gas to burn down the house." (11:13:03 PM) Clyve Fourier: "That way, they die and we don't have to risk getting eaten." (11:13:31 PM) Kyle Reid: "Sure, make a big bon fire that says 'dinner was here'." (11:13:38 PM) Devin McCloud: I bend and lengthen the coathanger into a long wire with a hook. I then attempt to insert it between the door and the window to try and pull open the lock. (11:13:59 PM) Devin McCloud: (Roll engineering?) (11:14:01 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "By burning the house, you also burn anything in it which we might have used. My vote is we just leave it." (11:14:14 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Roll) (11:14:16 PM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (11:14:22 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (kure... i mean clyve, what is with the burning? :p) (11:14:22 PM) Devin McCloud: (Well that didn't work) (11:14:37 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Here, let me try the wire trick." (11:14:38 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (11:14:52 PM) William Laurence: "We don't even know what's inside." I walk around the house, looking in the windows, but keeping my distance (11:15:06 PM) Clyve Fourier: (They're zombies. You set zombies on fire. Sheesh.) (11:15:08 PM) SteveMcWhat: The plan seems like a solid one, but Devin cant seem to grab the handle with the wire. Clyve is likewise unsuccessful (11:15:21 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I shake my head, cover the window with my blanket to muffle the sound, and then hit it with my bat (11:15:24 PM) Caitlin Youngs: roll? (11:15:27 PM) SteveMcWhat: (The windows are all boarded up) (11:15:33 PM) Clyve Fourier: (The car window) (11:15:41 PM) Devin McCloud: (I think he was tallking to Will) (11:15:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Whataboutthealarm!!" (11:15:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: (The house is boarded, right.) (11:16:09 PM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (11:16:18 PM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin smashes the window with the bat. All remains silent. (11:16:32 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "If the alarm didnt go off when you were all jamming metal in at the door, its not goin... see?" (11:16:57 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "Man, this is a great blanket." I shake off the glass and pack it away. (11:17:04 PM) Devin McCloud: "Let's just hope we don't need that window later." (11:17:05 PM) William Laurence: (@dantius http://www.pown.us/wp-content/uploads/2008/03/269.jpg) (11:17:18 PM) William Laurence: (with regards to zombies on fire) (11:17:21 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Fine." I clear out the broken glass and open the door. (11:17:59 PM) SteveMcWhat: (You smashed the driverside window?) (11:18:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: (This is the sedan, right?) (11:18:29 PM) Devin McCloud: (Station wagon) (11:18:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Station wagon. The sedan is outside one of the normal houses) (11:19:08 PM) Clyve Fourier: Alright. I hop in and try to hotwire the car. ENGN. (11:19:09 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 15 (11:20:51 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve prys away the bottom of the steering wheel with his screwdriver. He taps a few of the whires together, and the running lights turn on. (11:21:23 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the fuel gauge. How much gas left? (11:21:36 PM) SteveMcWhat: 50% (11:21:57 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. If we want to head out, we've got more than enough gas to reach the other town." (11:21:58 PM) William Laurence: "You care to do that with the other car?" (11:22:24 PM) Devin McCloud: "You want to take two cars?" (11:22:29 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Why? If we're looking to drain their gas, we don't need to hotwire it, we just need a tube and a pump." (11:22:50 PM) William Laurence: "It can't hurt..." (11:23:14 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "We don't need a convoy. We just need enough cars to get us to wherever we're going." (11:23:15 PM) Clyve Fourier: "The other car could have an alarm. Let's at least have this one ready for a quick escape first." (11:23:44 PM) Devin McCloud: "There's no one else here to hear an alarm." (11:23:55 PM) Devin McCloud: "Well, other than whatever's in that house, anyway." (11:23:56 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hop in!" I fire up the engine and back the car out into the street, then drive to the sedan house. (11:24:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Wai for everyon else to get in) (11:24:21 PM) Kyle Reid: I get in the car. (11:24:24 PM) William Laurence: I get in (11:24:29 PM) Devin McCloud: I get in the car as well. (11:24:45 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I climb in. (11:25:27 PM) Clyve Fourier: Once we reach the sedan, I try the same hotwire trick, first breaking the window, etc. (11:25:28 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 16 (11:25:58 PM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve seems to be getting the hang of this. He turns on the sedan (11:26:16 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Grand Theft McLean, eh?" (11:26:37 PM) Clyve Fourier: I check the fuel gauge again. (11:26:43 PM) Devin McCloud: I climb into the station wagon's drivers seat. (11:26:48 PM) SteveMcWhat: There's a quarter tank left (11:26:54 PM) Thuryl entered the room. (11:26:58 PM) Devin McCloud: (Hiya) (11:27:07 PM) William Laurence: (Hello) (11:27:17 PM) Devin McCloud: (We're starting our own 5-man convoy) (11:27:25 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Do we want to try and siphon out the fuel into the station wagon? It cold take a while, but the extra quarter tank could come in handy." (11:27:25 PM) Thuryl: (conVOOOOY) (11:27:51 PM) Devin McCloud: "If we're going to siphon fuel, why not siphon it out of the pickup?" (11:27:51 PM) Kyle Reid: "Anyone have a hose?" (11:28:03 PM) William Laurence: "Might as well. It's not like we're running out of time or anything." (11:28:12 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Why would you leave fuel in a car you're repairing? That seems stupid." (11:28:18 PM) Clyve Fourier: *taking apart (11:28:29 PM) William Laurence: "There's prolly one in the truck house" I go back and check (roll?) (11:28:42 PM) Devin McCloud: "Unless the fuel tank was one of the things he wasn't taking apart." (11:28:49 PM) SteveMcWhat: No, you find a hose. (11:29:03 PM) Clyve Fourier: I do a thorough search of both cars. Anything interesting? (11:29:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (11:29:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: You search the glove compartments of each car, but find nothing but registration information and such. In the trunk of the sedan is a spare tire and tire iron (11:30:00 PM) Clyve Fourier: I take them and move them to the minivan. (11:30:30 PM) Clyve Fourier: "We didn't see a pump on our way here, did we?" (11:31:01 PM) SteveMcWhat: (I didn't mention one. If you can think of any obvious place for one to be, you can go check) (11:31:03 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Real men siphon gas with their mouths.) (11:31:08 PM) William Laurence: (^) (11:31:32 PM) SteveMcWhat: (I'm reminded of an Always Sunny episode where Charlie is siphoning gas) (11:31:48 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. We could slive the hoze open and splic it togeth with the fire extinguisher to create a low-pressure zone to draw out the gas using the Bernoulli effect." (11:32:02 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Or we could use our mouths." (11:32:37 PM) William Laurence: "Let's not make this complicated, doc." (11:32:49 PM) Caitlin Youngs: "I think mouths will work fine. Get to it." (11:33:24 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Fine, fine." I siphon the gas over to the station wagon. Roll? (11:36:03 PM) Devin McCloud: (ping?) (11:36:12 PM) William Laurence: (pong) (11:36:30 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (laz is enjoying the image of dantius on his knees sucking on some hose too much to answer) (11:36:32 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Devin's driving) (11:37:03 PM) Clyve Fourier: (I siphon my gas standing up, thank you very much.) (11:37:22 PM) Devin McCloud: Oh. I take the station wagon over to the truck (or the sedan? Dantius wasn't clear) for siphoning. (11:37:27 PM) Devin McCloud: *I drive (11:38:04 PM) SteveMcWhat: The siphoning is done. All that's left is to hit the highway) (11:38:15 PM) Devin McCloud: "Everyone ready to go?" (11:38:19 PM) William Laurence: I get into the sedan (11:38:32 PM) Kyle Reid: "Yeah, but where are we going?" (11:38:38 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Right. Heads-up, I suck at driving, so I'll ride passenger." (11:38:45 PM) Devin McCloud: "Texalo... that was to the east, right?" (11:38:47 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Wait, we're taking the station wagn.) (11:38:59 PM) William Laurence: Right (11:39:04 PM) Clyve Fourier: "Yeah, it's about 30 miles to the east." (11:39:09 PM) William Laurence: (I'm retarded today, sorry) (11:39:11 PM) Kyle Reid: "I can take driving shift." (11:39:13 PM) Devin McCloud: I wait for everyone to get in. (11:39:23 PM) William Laurence: I get out of the sedan and get into the station wagon. (11:39:41 PM) Devin McCloud: "Sure thing, Kyle." (11:39:58 PM) Caitlin Youngs: I pile into the wagon too. (11:40:15 PM) Clyve Fourier: (did everyone take driving but me?) (11:40:22 PM) Devin McCloud: (Apparently.) (11:40:23 PM) Kyle Reid: (yes.) (11:40:24 PM) William Laurence: (I did) (11:40:30 PM) Angriach entered the room. (11:40:39 PM) William Laurence: (Hello) (11:40:44 PM) Angriach: (Hi) (11:40:51 PM) nicothodes9: (hi) (11:40:53 PM) Clyve Fourier: (But I was the only one who took Engineering. Odd.) (11:40:54 PM) Devin McCloud: Once everyone's in, I pull out onto the highway and start driving east. (11:40:56 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Hey) (11:54:54 PM) SteveMcWhat: It's a half hour drive on I-40 from McLean to Texola. It's smooth, uneventful sailing. The only signs of life you spot are some cows grazing in the pastures on either side of the highway (11:55:29 PM) Angriach: (No zombie cows?) (11:55:38 PM) SteveMcWhat: You spot a sign that reads "Texola, Next Exit) (11:55:43 PM) SteveMcWhat: *" (11:55:45 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Wait, we're scavenging abandoned kitchens for pop-tarts, but we drove past a herd of freakin' cows? :P) (11:56:02 PM) Devin McCloud: (How long do you think that'd keep?) (11:56:50 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (We could have milk forever.) (11:56:52 PM) William Laurence: (When it rots just kill another cow...it's texas, there's like a billion of them) (11:56:57 PM) Devin McCloud: I watch for the next exit. (11:57:15 PM) Kyle Reid: "Are we there yet?" (11:57:26 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Well if you want you could spend the rest of the RP ranching in texas.) (11:57:47 PM) Devin McCloud: (And defending the herd from zombies!) (11:57:48 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Yeah, I'll pass on that.) (11:57:54 PM) SteveMcWhat: (Heh) (11:58:13 PM) Clyve Fourier: (Could make a great Facebook game, though) (11:58:21 PM) Angriach: (Farm Vs Zombies ?) (11:58:45 PM) SteveMcWhat: You pull off at the Texola exit, however you don't make it far before you come to an impasse. The exit it is blocked by some sort of traffic accident. Two cars turned sideways block the road ahead leading into town, and a line of five cars and trucks is backed up almost to the highway. (11:58:45 PM) Caitlin Youngs: (Nah, Laz is right. Being a cowboy is famously boring.) (11:58:51 PM) William Laurence: (I think it'd be better as something Lulzsec could do to Zynga) (11:59:25 PM) Caitlin Youngs: Does it look like someone blocked the road intentionally, or is this a crash? (11:59:31 PM) Devin McCloud: I stop the car. (11:59:37 PM) Clyve Fourier: "We're on foot, I guess. Looks kinda trappish to me, though." (11:59:55 PM) SteveMcWhat: There are many corpses strewn about the barrier. Several of them were standing listlessly, but stagger towards you when they take notice of your approach. Some of the bodies lying on the ground attempt to stand or crawl to follow. (12:00:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Sarachim, roll) (12:00:09 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (12:00:14 AM) Clyve Fourier: "aaaaand... reverse! REVERSE!" (12:00:25 AM) Devin McCloud: I throw the car in reverse and start backing up rapidly. (12:00:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: With the zombies distracting you, you can't spare much attention for the roadblock (12:01:00 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (These are slow zombies, right?) (12:01:13 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Yeah, not like 28 days later zombies) (12:01:33 AM) Caitlin Youngs: As Devin backs us up, I watch my side of the car for more zombies. (12:01:33 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Okay, I say we pop the back window and start taking potshots." (12:01:46 AM) William Laurence: Does the car have a sunroof thingy? If so, I unsling my rifle and stand up through it. (12:01:52 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "We should save our bullets for when we really need them." (12:01:56 AM) SteveMcWhat: No sunroof. (12:02:09 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Like when zombies are between us and our destination?" (12:02:13 AM) Devin McCloud: How many zombies are there, approximately? (12:02:29 AM) SteveMcWhat: There are four zombies stumbling towards you. Two more crawl behind them (12:03:00 AM) Devin McCloud: Is there any way we could drive around the roadblock? (12:03:25 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Like when we're between zombies and zombies." (12:03:26 AM) SteveMcWhat: Observation check? (12:03:30 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 16 (12:04:13 AM) SteveMcWhat: There's a fence on the right side of the road that prevents you from passing that way. On the other side is a hill that leads up to the interstate overpass, you'd have to drive offroad on it (12:04:14 AM) William Laurence: "Why don't we just back up to the highway itself, and see if the other onramp is blocked?" (12:05:09 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Good idea." (12:05:14 AM) Clyve Fourier: "This thing can go offroad, right?" I check the manual. (12:05:33 AM) Devin McCloud: "It's worth checking, at least." I continue in reverse till we hit the highway. (12:05:46 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "It's a station wagon, not a tank. Hey, how cool would it be if we had a tank?" (12:06:40 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Are you even capable of driving a tank?" (12:06:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: (You're driving, Devin. Where to?) (12:07:28 AM) Devin McCloud: Up the highway to check for another onramp. (12:07:58 AM) SteveMcWhat: You continue heading east across the overpass. You spot an exit on the west bound side of the road. (12:08:34 AM) Devin McCloud: "There's an exit, but there's no guarantee it's going where we're going." (12:09:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: (It's an exit at the same city, just the westbound highway) (12:09:53 AM) Clyve Fourier: "I'm sure we'll be forgiven for pulling a U-turn over a solid white medium, you know." (12:09:58 AM) Devin McCloud: (Oh.) (12:11:09 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Unless Officer McCloud sees fit to ticket us for a moving violation, that is..." (12:11:52 AM) Devin McCloud: "Seeing as I'd be the one getting the ticket, no thanks." I try to take that exit. (12:11:59 AM) Devin McCloud: Wait. (12:12:05 AM) Devin McCloud: What kind of median are we looking at here? (12:12:25 AM) SteveMcWhat: (For the sake of simplicity, it's just paint) (12:12:37 AM) Devin McCloud: Alright, NOW I try to take that exit. (12:13:00 AM) William Laurence: (Ahem. If I may make a suggestion...We stay on the same side, and just take the road-to-get-on-highway-from-street in reverse?) (12:13:04 AM) William Laurence: (that works too) (12:13:26 AM) SteveMcWhat: You pull off the highway, and find yourself on the north side of the underpass. (12:13:56 AM) SteveMcWhat: North is a gated dirt road. South leads under the highway into the town. (12:14:13 AM) Devin McCloud: I turn south towards the town. (12:14:44 AM) Kyle Reid: I keep my eyes open for a gas station. (12:15:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: You drive under the highway, and come out on the other side of the barrier. The zombies chased the car back to the highway, where they are now standing confusedly. You see that there are other corpses around that did not get up to attack you (12:15:43 AM) SteveMcWhat: Without the zombies to bother you, you also get a better look at the barrier. Despite what you first thought, it doesn't appear that there was any car crash here. The two cars blocking traffic are undamaged, and appear to have been placed here deliberately (12:15:44 AM) Devin McCloud: "I wonder if that was the group from McLean..." (12:16:31 AM) Kyle Reid: "I guess someone doesn't want visitors." (12:16:44 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Probably, but they were hadly very thorough, we got by just fine." (12:16:53 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Maybe they got attacked midway through?" (12:17:11 AM) Devin McCloud: "Possibly. I'm tempted to investigate to find out what happened here." (12:17:12 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "That barrier would never keep out zombies. They must have been making it against other people, but why?" (12:17:19 AM) SteveMcWhat: You spot a gas station on the east side of the road, near the east bound on-ramp. (12:17:43 AM) Kyle Reid: "You guys think we could swipe a few gallons?" (12:18:15 AM) Clyve Fourier: "The gas probably won't pump without power, and we can't really rupture the tanks. We'd have to siphon, and that's somebody else's turn now." (12:18:27 AM) William Laurence: "Sure, but we need to be cautious. I don't think any survivors will take kindly to us stealing their gas." (12:18:52 AM) Clyve Fourier: I look around. Would the gas staton be a good place for an ambush? (Tactics) (12:18:52 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 18 (12:19:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "I'll siphon if the rest of you will stand guard." (12:19:12 AM) Devin McCloud: "Guys, I want to investigate that barricade. I've got a feeling about it... something weird's going on there, and I want to find out what." (12:19:48 AM) Kyle Reid: "Gas station stores usually have some handy things. Maybe we should check it out." (12:19:51 AM) SteveMcWhat: To the north of the gas station is the highway, and east is open land. There are no large buildings to the south that lead you to anticipate ambush. You are, however, still concerned about the zombies from before (12:20:32 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, we probably won't get ambushed by anyone at the gas station, and we'd have a clear bearingon the zombies, so they couldn't sneak up." (12:20:53 AM) Clyve Fourier: "But we still have around 70% of a tank, so it's not like we really need the gas." (12:21:16 AM) Kyle Reid: "But we (12:21:22 AM) William Laurence: "It's a gas station, so there'll probably be food" (12:21:29 AM) Kyle Reid: might need the gas." (12:21:54 AM) Devin McCloud: How far away is the gas station from the barricade? (12:22:05 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Gas stations have gas cans, right? We can fill the trunk." (12:22:57 AM) SteveMcWhat: The barricade is at the base of the west ramp, so basically just across the street that you're on. (12:23:38 AM) William Laurence: "There's not that many zombies, I think we can handle them if they come back" (12:23:53 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Gas station, then." (12:24:35 AM) Devin McCloud: I stop the car. "You go on ahead. I want to get a closer look at that barricade." I then step out of the car. (12:24:45 AM) Devin McCloud: (Assuming the car wasn't stopped to begin with) (12:24:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: You pull in to the gas station. The crawling zombies from the barricade didn't make it so far up the ramp, and they are the first to spot you (12:25:10 AM) William Laurence: Get out and make ready my rifle (12:25:16 AM) William Laurence: *I get (12:25:20 AM) Kyle Reid: "Crap. We have incoming." (12:25:36 AM) Clyve Fourier: "See? Stupid idea?" (12:25:47 AM) Clyve Fourier: I draw my knife. (12:25:48 AM) Kyle Reid: I run into the gas station. (12:25:51 AM) Devin McCloud: I don my shades and draw my weapon. How close are the crawling zombies? (12:26:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: The zombies from the ramp see their fellows' interest, and turn towards you. They're approximately 100yards from you right now. (12:26:11 AM) SteveMcWhat: The crawlers are about 30. (12:26:33 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I climb on top of the car. (12:26:42 AM) William Laurence: I call out to Devin, "You take the crawlers, I'll handle the standers" (12:26:48 AM) Clyve Fourier: I pause and light up a cigarette, then enter the gas station. (12:27:17 AM) William Laurence: I...don't climb on top of the car, and lie prone on the ground (12:27:44 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (What? It makes sense if your weapon is a baseball bat. :P) (12:28:00 AM) Devin McCloud: "Got it!" I ready my pistol, take aim at the closest crawling zombie, and snap off one shot at it. (12:28:04 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (12:28:12 AM) SteveMcWhat: The crawling zombies make it to the other side of the barricade (12:28:26 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (12:28:40 AM) William Laurence: I aim at the nearest of the amblers. (call chest shot) (12:28:52 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (12:29:09 AM) Caitlin Youngs: From my elevated position, I keep an eye on Clyve and Kyle, and I watch for other threats. Observation: (12:29:19 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 18 (12:29:33 AM) William Laurence: (Hey, you wanna share some of those good rolls? :P) (12:29:55 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Hey, it's not my fault Nikki didn't bring a gun. :P) (12:30:18 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin hits the crawling zombie in one of its arms. (2dmg) (12:30:59 AM) William Laurence: (wait, there is no chest shot is there? *checks*) (12:31:02 AM) SteveMcWhat: William's shot goes wide, the walking zombies are still quite far (12:31:23 AM) SteveMcWhat: (There is none. If you're shooting at center of mass, that's just a normal shot) (12:31:32 AM) William Laurence: (ok, sorry) (12:31:40 AM) William Laurence: I shoot again (12:31:40 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (12:31:44 AM) William Laurence: (wtf) (12:31:56 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Also, you know, they're zombies. Everybody knows what part of the body you need to shoot a zombie in. :P) (12:32:13 AM) Kyle Reid: I go looking for any cans of oil and lighters. (12:32:15 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (12:32:21 AM) William Laurence: (Hey Nioca, I'd watch out, apparently my character can't shoot worth shit) (12:32:29 AM) Clyve Fourier: "OH HELL YES!" (12:32:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: (William's strikes the barricade) (12:32:55 AM) Devin McCloud: (I'd go for head, but I don't want to try it at this range) (12:32:55 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Make it quick, Clyve, we're in a gunfight!" (12:32:57 AM) Clyve Fourier: I emerge with a double barrel shotgun. (12:33:01 AM) Kyle Reid: (g'night) (12:33:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Night) (12:33:08 AM) nicothodes9 left the room. (12:33:09 AM) Devin McCloud: I take another normal shot at the zombie I just shot. (12:33:14 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 12 (12:33:31 AM) William Laurence: I shoot again. (12:33:31 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 1 (12:33:39 AM) William Laurence: (oh god I am so sorry) (12:34:00 AM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle could likely find a lighter in the gas station, or ask Devin for his. There are bottles of motor oil inside the gas station (12:34:17 AM) Kyle Reid: (I thought I was in the station.) (12:34:30 AM) Clyve Fourier: (how far away are the zombies?) (12:34:37 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin fires at the crawling zombie again, and hits it in the chest. (2dmg) (12:35:23 AM) SteveMcWhat: William's shot ricochet's off the barricade and grazes Devin's face. (takes 1dmg) (12:35:39 AM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle grabs the supplies that he was looking for (12:35:51 AM) Devin McCloud: "Agh! What the f-" I stagger back, cursing. (12:35:57 AM) William Laurence: I continue trying to shoot one damned zombie (12:35:58 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 17 (12:36:02 AM) Kyle Reid: How close are the zombies now? (12:36:03 AM) William Laurence: "Sorry!" (12:36:07 AM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin shouts out from atop the car, "The walkers are at the barricade!" (12:36:08 AM) William Laurence: (oh there we go) (12:36:35 AM) Clyve Fourier: I also climb on top of the car to get a better view. (12:36:52 AM) Devin McCloud: How close are the crawlers? (12:37:01 AM) SteveMcWhat: William hits a zombie in the head as it crosses the barrier, killing it. (12:37:13 AM) SteveMcWhat: Crawlers are about halway across the street. (12:37:34 AM) William Laurence: I take my last shot, then reload. (12:37:36 AM) Devin McCloud: I regain my composure, level my pistol at the wounded one, and make a called shot at its head. (12:37:37 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 12 (12:37:41 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 1 (12:37:45 AM) Devin McCloud: (Ah, crap) (12:38:46 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "The walkers are stuck on the barricade! Focus on the crawling ones!" (12:39:18 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin misses the close ranged shot wide, and the recoil somehow causes him to drop his gun (12:40:00 AM) Devin McCloud: (Well, I guess that's better than shooting someone in the face.) (12:40:01 AM) SteveMcWhat: William hits one of the zombies as it clumsily tries to climb over the barricade, doing 4 dmg and causing it to fall (12:40:20 AM) Kyle Reid: Are the zombies in throwing range? (12:40:23 AM) Devin McCloud: (Are we doing turns, or no?) (12:40:50 AM) SteveMcWhat: Um the zombies are walking this whole time, and I'm trying to keep the number of combat actions equal. but not being too strict yet (12:41:00 AM) Devin McCloud: (Got it) (12:41:07 AM) SteveMcWhat: (You and william have the same number of actions so far.) (12:41:40 AM) Devin McCloud: I pick up my gun, brush it off, and fire off another shot at the wounded crawler. (If I'm able to do that in one turn) (12:41:44 AM) SteveMcWhat: One of the walking zombies is now clear of the barricade. It runs towards you with renewed vigor (12:41:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: (You aren't.) (12:42:38 AM) William Laurence: I move to lie prone on top of the station wagon after I reload (that's two, right, but I can shoot too?) (12:42:50 AM) SteveMcWhat: The remaining two crawlers are now on your side of the street. One zombie is trying to figure out the barricade. One is wounded and trying to climb it. One is past (12:43:30 AM) SteveMcWhat: If you want to reload while you move, you need to roll (12:43:37 AM) Devin McCloud: I back up and fire a shot at the wounded crawler. (12:43:40 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (12:43:43 AM) SteveMcWhat: Othwersie you need to reload standing still, then shoot. (12:44:00 AM) Kyle Reid: I open my can of oil and chuck it at one of the crawlers, wait a moment, then the light the lighter I found and chuck it too. (12:44:01 AM) William Laurence: I won't risk my luck, with these dice. (12:44:01 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 11 (12:44:13 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Since it's getting crowded up here, I jump down in front of the car. If the crawler gets into melee range, I'm going to whack it with my bat. (12:44:22 AM) SteveMcWhat: Officer McCloud, somewhat rattled by his last failed shot, tenses up and misses. (12:44:50 AM) William Laurence: So I'll just skip the moving and shoot from the ground after I reload (12:45:09 AM) SteveMcWhat: The zombie is doused in oil, but the lighter snaps out once it leave your hand, and doesnt ignite it. (12:45:39 AM) Kyle Reid: "Dang. Anyone got a match?" (12:45:43 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Waiting on William's roll) (12:45:55 AM) William Laurence: Oh right, sorry (12:45:56 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 18 (12:46:08 AM) SteveMcWhat: (What are you shooting at, walker or crawler?) (12:46:22 AM) William Laurence: (The walker that's over the barricade) (12:46:30 AM) Clyve Fourier: "This might work!" I toss my lit cigarette at the coated zombie. (12:46:31 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 6 (12:46:59 AM) SteveMcWhat: William lands a solid shot on the walker's torso, dealing 5dmg. (12:47:44 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve's cigarette flick doesnt hit the zombie-- but there's enough oil around that it doesnt need to. The zombie is engulfed in a puddle of flame (12:47:55 AM) Kyle Reid: (Yes!!) (12:48:37 AM) SteveMcWhat: The crawler that's been wounded by Devin's pistol is close enough that Caitlin can attempt to whack it (12:48:50 AM) Clyve Fourier: (Are any of the zombies close enough that I'd get the +HIT bonus from the shotgun?) (12:48:51 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I leap forward and bring my bat down on its head. (12:48:58 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 17 (12:49:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin's brings the bat down in an overhead slam, splattering the crawler's brains all over the road (12:50:01 AM) Devin McCloud: I take careful aim at the other crawler's head, then fire. (12:50:04 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 11 (12:50:16 AM) SteveMcWhat: (The +HIT is best when you're in melee, and tapers off after that. You're not close enough to any to get a considerable bonus) (12:50:23 AM) Devin McCloud: (That... might work) (12:50:46 AM) William Laurence: (how close are the zombies to my position?) (12:50:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: The flaming crawler expires as the gunshot strikes its head. (12:51:30 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I kneel in front of the car so I don't block anybody's shots, and wait for the walkers. (12:51:31 AM) Devin McCloud: (Whew) (12:52:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: (There's one wounded zombie that's halfway across the road. Another wounded stuck at the barrier, and a third across the barrier. The car is about 10 feet back from the road.) (12:52:50 AM) Clyve Fourier: I take careful aim and fire off one shot at the zombie halfway across the road. (12:52:50 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (12:52:58 AM) Devin McCloud: I take aim at the wounded zombie and fire. (12:53:01 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (12:53:27 AM) William Laurence: Wounded barrier. Called head (12:53:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Um everyone submit their actions and then I'll go.) (12:53:29 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 11 (12:53:38 AM) William Laurence: (damn) (12:53:45 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I'm holding my ground until a walker gets close enough to hit. Then I'm hitting it. (12:54:01 AM) William Laurence: (brb, parents being butthurt so I'm going to RDP in from my ipod) (12:54:10 AM) Kyle Reid: I run back inside and grab another can of oil and a handful of lighters. (12:55:07 AM) William Laurence: (ok) (12:55:09 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve and William both miss. Devin hits the wounded zombie, and the flesh wound is enough to cause it to fall. It tries to crawl forward, but it's even gimpier than the crawlers you faced earlier (12:55:48 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Downed zombies can be given coup de grace if you're next to them) (12:56:05 AM) Clyve Fourier: I take my time and reload one of the shells into the shotgun. (12:56:08 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Let's wait on that until we've dealt with the more dangerous ones.) (12:56:40 AM) SteveMcWhat: The wounded zombie has finally climbed over the barrier. The other zombie is halfway across the road, unwounded. (12:56:48 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Go) (12:56:59 AM) Clyve Fourier: Reload, no action. (12:57:20 AM) William Laurence: other zombie (12:57:25 AM) Kyle Reid: I can't really do anything yet. (12:57:37 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (12:57:55 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I'm still crouched and ready to strike. (12:58:02 AM) Devin McCloud: (The other zombie's across the barrier?) (12:58:45 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Shoot the nearer one!" (12:59:22 AM) William Laurence: I was shooting at "halfway acriss road uneounded" (12:59:35 AM) William Laurence: (pardon typos) (1:00:03 AM) Devin McCloud: I take careful aim at the unwounded zombie's head (Called Head Shot) and snap off one round. (1:00:08 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (1:00:15 AM) Devin McCloud: (And back to bad rolls again) (1:00:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: William's shot hits the zombie in the arm, which hardly phases it. (2dmg) Devin's shot misses badly. The zombie has made it to your side of the street, and is now in the gas station. (1:01:35 AM) SteveMcWhat: (go) (1:01:48 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Must I do everything myself?" I throw my pan at its head. (1:01:52 AM) Devin McCloud: Do I have a clear shot of it? (1:02:18 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Wait, can I throw my pan, or do I need to take a combat action to switch weapons first? (1:02:22 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Yeah, at this point I assume you're all lined up firing squad style pretty much.) (1:02:46 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Alright, let's try this again. Ugh, shotguns are so inelegant..." Shot at the zombie. (1:02:47 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (1:02:57 AM) William Laurence: i stand and attempt to strike it in the face with the butt of my rifle. (1:03:04 AM) Devin McCloud: Alright, let's try another shot at this thing. I fire a normal shot at the zombie. (1:03:07 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (1:03:09 AM) SteveMcWhat: (If you were switching to another gun, i'd say yeah, but if you're just grabbing something and throwing i think that's ok) (1:03:10 AM) Kyle Reid: I throw an open oil can at the lead zombie and follow with a lit lighter. (1:03:11 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 13 (1:03:13 AM) William Laurence: err, scratch that (1:03:21 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Okay, throwing the pan then. (1:03:23 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 1 (1:03:38 AM) Thuryl: (that makes how many fumbles now) (1:03:48 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Welp, good thing I decided not to do melee.) (1:03:58 AM) Clyve Fourier: (I only recal one crit this entire session.) (1:04:09 AM) Angriach: (3 fumbles?) (1:04:15 AM) SteveMcWhat: (3) (1:04:20 AM) William Laurence: ill shoot at the other one (1:04:33 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (1:04:39 AM) Clyve Fourier: (It was me, and I found some drugs in a teenagers bedroom. Woo.() (1:05:15 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (If we were fighting machine elves, that would be really useful.) (1:07:22 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin's shot hits the zombie in the leg, causing it to stumble. Clyve's shot blasts it full in the chest, knocking it to the ground where it struggles feebly. William fires at the remaining zombie but misses. Caitlin winds up to hurl her pan with all her strength, but doesnt let go until she's on the follow through. The pan goes flying backwards, and hits William in the head. (2dmg) (1:08:00 AM) SteveMcWhat: The remaining zombie is now across the street (1:08:35 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I use my bat to coup-de-gras the downed zombie. Roll? (1:08:37 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Clyve you also found a remote controlled car, which you totally should have taken) (1:08:37 AM) William Laurence: "That's really gonna improve my aim, thanks." (1:09:02 AM) Devin McCloud: I fall to one knee, take aim, and try to snap off a headshot with my final round. (1:09:06 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 16 (1:09:17 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 12 (1:09:19 AM) Devin McCloud: (Yes!) (1:09:19 AM) SteveMcWhat: (No, coup de gras are insta-kills) (1:09:28 AM) William Laurence: I hold my fire (1:09:28 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Okay, ignore the roll then.) (1:09:31 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Sorry, Will!" (1:09:33 AM) Thuryl: (is a coup de gras when you kill something as if it were a fat goose) (1:10:30 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Yeah. If you're standing next to a helpless enemy on the ground, you just get a free shot at its head) (1:10:47 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Lilith knew that. She's making fun of you. :P) (1:11:28 AM) Clyve Fourier: (it's coup de grace. with a circonflex over the a) (1:11:51 AM) SteveMcWhat: (For the record i spelled it right the first time, sarachim messed me up) (1:11:59 AM) Kyle Reid: I stand here and watch. (1:12:25 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Oh, okay. Lilith is making fun of me. :P) (1:12:47 AM) Clyve Fourier: I reload my weapon. (1:12:55 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Either way i think we can agree we're being mocked) (1:13:20 AM) Thuryl: (well that goes without saying, since i'm here) (1:13:42 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin takes aim and blows the last standing zombie's brains out (1:14:53 AM) William Laurence: I stand and enter the gas station, looking for ammo. (1:15:14 AM) William Laurence: (theyrr all dead(er) right?) (1:15:20 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I finish off the last moving zombie like it's a fat goose. (1:15:22 AM) SteveMcWhat: One zombie struggles in the road, but is too damaged to move towards you (1:15:28 AM) SteveMcWhat: And that's the end of that (1:15:37 AM) Devin McCloud: I stand as well, reloading my gun and pocketing the empty magazine. (1:15:44 AM) Kyle Reid: I look through the gas station, this time looking for batteries and flashlights. (1:16:08 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I set about refilling the car's gas tank from one of the pumps. (1:16:19 AM) Kyle Reid: Oh, first I help William with his head wound. Rolling first aid. (1:16:21 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 14 (1:17:10 AM) Clyve Fourier: I break the shotgun and remove the rounds, pocketing them. I then inspect the shotgun for damage. (1:17:36 AM) SteveMcWhat: You wrap the wound and stop the bleeding. William gains 2hp (1:17:53 AM) William Laurence: "Thanks." (1:18:07 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Anyone else need some patching up?" (1:18:18 AM) Kyle Reid: "No problem. Just stay away from flying frying pans from now on." (1:18:18 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Devin has 1dmg missing) (1:18:38 AM) Devin McCloud: I holster my weapon and pocket my shades. "I've got a grazing injury on the side of my head that could stand to be looked at." (1:18:55 AM) Devin McCloud: I shiver slightly. (1:18:57 AM) William Laurence: Roll for ammo? (1:18:59 AM) Clyve Fourier: I patch up Devin. (1:19:08 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Did you get it when we passed those cows?" (1:19:18 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 10 (1:19:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: You bandage the cut on Devin's face. (Gains 1hp) (1:19:55 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (brb real quick, still refilling the gas tank. After that's done, I'm going to look around for gas cans we can fill) (1:20:14 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Hold on though, how exactly is this gas thing working?) (1:20:21 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I'm kind of sketchy on this) (1:20:22 AM) Kyle Reid: Anyway, rolling Search for looting the station. (1:20:24 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (1:20:41 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 9 (1:20:47 AM) William Laurence: (for ammo) (1:20:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: The gas station has definitely been raided already. A lot of the food is missing, as well as other obvious survival supplies. Kyle does find a package of 8 double a batteries. (1:20:50 AM) Devin McCloud: "I- oh that's just wrong, Caitlin." I grin. "Thanks, doctor. I'm going to head down to the barricade and see if there's anything usable there." (1:21:12 AM) Kyle Reid: I take the batteries. (1:21:21 AM) William Laurence: (if its anything like a MT gas station, teyll have ammo) (1:21:36 AM) Devin McCloud: I put my shades back on and head down to the barricade. (1:21:39 AM) William Laurence: (gah, lag) (1:21:46 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Well, any gas station that has a shotgun on the wall probably has ammo." (1:21:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Clyve already found a shotgun inside. But they don't actually sell ammo, so no luck) (1:22:31 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (back) (1:22:40 AM) Clyve Fourier: (Well, we're not buying so much as looting, so it shouldn't matter if they're selling it or not...) (1:22:48 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin heads down to the barricade. There are other bodies here that didn't raise as zombies. Many of them have been so badly hacked apart that there's little left of them. Some are intact enough to determine the cause of death: gunshots. Many have suffered extreme head wounds. (1:22:48 AM) Clyve Fourier: :-P (1:23:01 AM) William Laurence: "Damn, nothing. Guys, if you could keep an eye out for sporting goods stores, I'd appreciate it" (1:23:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Well you took the shopkeeper's gun, so unless he has multiple that's it) (1:23:14 AM) SteveMcWhat: Looking around the scene you find a pump action shotgun lying in the grass nearby. The gun is loaded with two shells, and four more are strapped to the stock of the gun. You also find a pistol on one of the bodies with a full clip. The guns and ammo are all none the better for their exposure to the elements. (1:23:29 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Pistol! Yes!" (1:23:50 AM) Clyve Fourier: I grab the pistol and perfom a quick once-over. Gun Knowledge: (1:23:51 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 19 (1:23:53 AM) Caitlin Youngs: What do you mean, how is this gas thing working? (1:24:07 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "I call shotgun!" (1:24:16 AM) Clyve Fourier: "It's yours." (1:24:28 AM) Kyle Reid: "Did I hear someone mention a pistol?" (1:24:42 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Thanks. Don't worry, I'm a badass with shotguns." (1:24:57 AM) Clyve Fourier: "...You're lying right now, aren't you?" (1:25:00 AM) Thuryl: (Everyone is a badass with shotguns. That is what shotguns are for.) (1:25:04 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Pardon?" (1:25:12 AM) William Laurence: "Like how you're a badass with pans?" (1:25:15 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve inspects the new guns. The pistol and shotgun are both coated in dirt and mud. They will be very unreliable until cleaned. The bullets have been rained on, and there's no telling if they'll actually fire. You wouldn't stake your life on it. (1:25:22 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Hey, that pan did some serious damage!" (1:25:22 AM) Kyle Reid: "Can I have the pistol? I don't think that trick with the oil can will work to often." (1:25:40 AM) Devin McCloud: "Fair enough." I search the wrecks carefully to see if there's any other supplies, weapons, or ammo here. (Search) (1:25:41 AM) Clyve Fourier: (I cleaned the pistol and field-stripped it. I rolled a 19...) (1:25:46 AM) Devin McCloud: Nioca rolled 1 20-sided die: 11 (1:26:11 AM) William Laurence: "Yeah, well let's give the concussions to the zombies next time, okay?" (1:26:15 AM) Clyve Fourier: "You can have the shotgun, I suppose. We have two of them, now." (1:26:51 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Awesome. Maybe when we stop for the night, you can work it over for me?" (1:27:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: Devin checks the two cars in the barricade. Neither of them has anything worth mentioning. The backed up cars, however, contain some canned goods, blankets, supplies, batteries (1:27:08 AM) William Laurence: I glance around the town for any signs of life/suspiciousness (1:27:14 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Sure. Let me finish up with the pistol, though..." (1:27:19 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (1:27:52 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Oh, how did I do with the gas? I was going to try to pump it like normal if that worked, and if not, siphon it into the car's gas tank. (1:28:20 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I'm pretty sure that's not possible) (1:28:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: (For one you can't siphon up.) (1:28:28 AM) Devin McCloud: I stuff the canned goods and batteries in my duffel bag. Any of those batteries D-Cells? (1:28:48 AM) William Laurence left the room. (1:29:16 AM) William Laurence entered the room. (1:29:38 AM) William Laurence: (ping?) (1:29:45 AM) Devin McCloud: (Loud and clear) (1:29:56 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Why would I be siphoning up? Isn't the gas cap lower than the top of the tank? (1:30:01 AM) Caitlin Youngs: The pump's tank, I mean. (1:30:05 AM) William Laurence: (did i miss anything?) (1:30:16 AM) SteveMcWhat: Well the station's tanks are underground (1:30:17 AM) Clyve Fourier: (The gas tanks themselves are underground.) (1:30:26 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Hmm, okay, fair point. (1:30:39 AM) SteveMcWhat: Also there should be some sort of valve on it somewhere to keep people from just doing that IRL. (1:31:46 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Anybody got a wrench? Maybe we can take apart the pump to get at the tank underneath." (1:31:48 AM) William Laurence: (theres always the manhole things they use to restock gas) (1:32:29 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Damn it, somebody who actually buys gas regularly should take over for me. :P) (1:32:52 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I'll leave you guys for a minute to work on the gas situation) (1:32:58 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Look, if you want gas that badly, I can try to get you some..." Engn to force open the tank covers. (1:32:59 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (1:33:08 AM) Thuryl: (i drive a car and i have never thought that much about this stuff either if it makes you feel any better) (1:33:23 AM) William Laurence: "Why don't we just try the manhole things they use to restock gas?" I walk over and try to open one (1:33:35 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 1 (1:33:57 AM) Devin McCloud: (Man alive, the dice don't want you to get gasoline) (1:34:03 AM) William Laurence: (William cases the gas station to explode. TPK) (1:34:28 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Good thing Clyve's not smoking right now.) (1:34:40 AM) Devin McCloud: (I'm still down at the barricade over here, so it wouldn't be a complete TPK.) (1:35:05 AM) William Laurence: (can Kyle get some bandaids ready? :p) (1:35:19 AM) Kyle Reid: (I only have so many you know.) (1:35:31 AM) SteveMcWhat: William leans down and pulls on the gas cap. It doesn't budge. He puts his back into it, then loses his grip and falls heavily on his ass. (1:36:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I help him. "I'm nothing but trouble for you, aren't I?" (1:36:07 AM) Caitlin Youngs: *help him up (1:36:21 AM) William Laurence: "Ugh, I think that frying pan did something to my inmer-ear..." (1:36:42 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I drop Willaim. "Fine, blame me. See if I care." (1:37:01 AM) William Laurence: (*inner. damn ipod keyboard and my giant thumbs) (1:38:44 AM) Kyle Reid: "Let's just siphon the fuel we need as we go." (1:39:24 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Hm. Some oil and gun cleaning supplies would be nice." I head into the gas station and look for some kind of multipurpoe machine oil. Or gun oil if they have it. (1:39:34 AM) Kyle Reid: "Are we just going to stand here, or are we going further into town?" (1:40:20 AM) William Laurence: "I think we should be cautipus. Those people weren't killed by zombies" (1:40:43 AM) Thuryl: (so you should be very careful and also have eight legs?) (1:40:52 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Kyle's right. Let's keep going." I get behind the wheel. (1:41:08 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Look, we can't get gas. It's impossible without power. Furthermore, it's probably damgerous o head into town without being fully prepared, so we should make sure we know what's going n before blindly rughing in." (1:41:09 AM) Kyle Reid: I climb in on the passenger side. (1:41:27 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "What do you suggest?" (1:41:27 AM) Clyve Fourier: "...Or we could go now." I search for the oil quickly. (1:41:29 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (1:41:47 AM) Clyve Fourier: I grab the oil and run ou o the car. (1:41:51 AM) William Laurence: is there roof access? I cpuld get up and look into town through my scope (1:42:16 AM) William Laurence: *" (1:42:21 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Gunmen on opposite sides, please." I start the car. (1:42:23 AM) William Laurence: *" (1:42:40 AM) William Laurence: Nvm then, I get in. (1:42:58 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Oh, we can wait, if you want. I don't mean to be pushy. :P) (1:43:04 AM) SteveMcWhat: You survey the city from here. It was once a town of about 200 residents. The highest vantage point you can see is from a water tower, which sticks up over the top of the buildings to the east. No other building in sight is over 3 stories tall (1:43:31 AM) William Laurence: (its ok. with my luck id fall off) (1:43:55 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I drive us toward the center of town, looking out for useful stores and stuff. (1:45:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: You can see zombies through the windows in some of the buildings. None of them have taken notice of you as of yet. (1:45:50 AM) Clyve Fourier: I finish cleaning and oiling my pistol and load it, concealing it in my labcoat. (1:45:53 AM) William Laurence left the room. (1:45:58 AM) William Laurence entered the room. (1:46:03 AM) Clyve Fourier: I give the shotgun and two shells to anyone who wants them. (1:46:04 AM) Thuryl: (with your luck, you fell off) (1:46:32 AM) William Laurence: (sorry, Montana internet) (1:46:35 AM) Kyle Reid: I'll take them. (1:47:09 AM) SteveMcWhat: (So you're all in the car now, and you're driving into town?) (1:47:36 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Yeah. (1:48:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I'm looking places to loot. Ideally, some kind of big shopping mall. :P (1:48:15 AM) Clyve Fourier: I light up another cigarette while we're driving. (1:48:17 AM) William Laurence left the room. (1:48:39 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Damnit, I should have picked up some more cigarettes at the gas station." (1:48:47 AM) Kyle Reid: "Let's avoid any place with zombies in it for now." (1:48:54 AM) William Laurence entered the room. (1:49:38 AM) SteveMcWhat: You roll into town guns poised. The road you're on appears to be the main drag, you drive past the post office, the courthouse, a food mart, and a floralist. (1:49:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: However you are attracting some attention (1:50:06 AM) Caitlin Youngs: From zombies? (1:50:32 AM) SteveMcWhat: A zombie on the corner takes note of you and starts limping towards you as you drive by. Other zombies take note, and wander out of whatever buildings they were in (1:50:56 AM) Kyle Reid: I take note of the zombies. "We might want to leave. Now." (1:51:05 AM) Clyve Fourier: "So how much ammunition do you have? I've got twenty rounds..." (1:51:34 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "I guess. They can't catch a moving car, but we can't salvage anything with this crowd following us." I make two right turns and head back toward the highway. (1:51:42 AM) William Laurence: "Oh great...hey, could we drive a little faster?" (1:52:00 AM) William Laurence: I check. "Two shots left." (1:52:12 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "I'm doing 30. That's already way faster than a zombie." (1:52:29 AM) Clyve Fourier: "We could just take potshots at them from the car. If we make our shots count, we might be able to wipe them all out and scavenge the town at our leisure." (1:52:46 AM) SteveMcWhat: Indeed the zombies can't catch a moving car, but the noise of the active zombies pursuing you has brought zombies out from all over town (1:52:53 AM) SteveMcWhat: Including in front of you. (1:53:00 AM) Angriach left the room. (1:53:26 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Enough to obstruct our way forward? (1:53:44 AM) Clyve Fourier: "I'm no physicist, but I'd be willing to bet a half-ton car has at least as much kinetic energy as a bullet. Ramming speed?" (1:54:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Only if necessary. It could mess up the car, and then we're dead." (1:54:04 AM) SteveMcWhat: It's not a giant mob, but if you keep driving you'll have to hit at least one (1:54:30 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Okay. I speed up to 45, and try to clip it instead of hitting it head-on. (1:55:58 AM) SteveMcWhat: You accellerate towards the zombies, attempting to clip a zombie with the right side of your fender (1:57:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: Another zombie staggers in front as you do so. Your right wheel lifts from the ground as you plow through the first, and the second rolls over the top of your windshield. (1:57:24 AM) SteveMcWhat: The windshield is cracked and covered with gore. (1:58:19 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I go faster. "William, Devin, clear the road!" (1:58:42 AM) William Laurence: I stick my rifle out and take a shot at any zombie in the way (1:58:43 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (1:58:54 AM) William Laurence: ([censored]!) (1:59:18 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (When Laz posts the log, it'll look like you actually swore. :P) (2:00:07 AM) William Laurence: (That's [censored] fine with me. These [censored] dice won't let me have a decent [censored] roll.) (2:00:19 AM) Devin McCloud: (Oh, it gets worse.) (2:00:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: You hit another zombie, and now you're well and completely blind, and driving about 55 in a 30. (2:00:44 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I roll down my window and lean out so I can see where I'm going. (2:01:38 AM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin leans out the window just in time to spot the fire hydrant that you're barrelling down on. you plow into it. (By the way, Devin got left behind at the gas station, so you're separate right now) (2:01:59 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (. . . oh. Why?) (2:02:09 AM) William Laurence: ((12:00:42 AM) Nioca: (Oh, it gets worse.)) (2:02:15 AM) SteveMcWhat: (He never got in i guess, he thought you were walking) (2:02:19 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (I wouldn't have left if I'd known that. I thought we were all in the car.) (2:02:28 AM) Devin McCloud: (I was down at the barricade and didn't see you guys pull off.) (2:02:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Well he's gone. I would suggest buddy system, but that doesnt work with odd numbers...) (2:03:08 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (That's insane. Our characters would have noticed there were only four people in the car.) (2:03:31 AM) William Laurence: "So...um...run?" I get out and look at the approaching horde. (2:03:51 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Well I asked him if he wanted to just teleport into the car, but he declined. I guess he's going to sort of watch this bit from the sidelines?) (2:03:52 AM) Kyle Reid: I get out and bolt in the direction of least zombies. (2:04:09 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Damn, and I thought I was a bad driver!" Is the car totally non-operational? (2:04:22 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Ah, okay. If Nioca agreed, I guess I can't complain. Objection withdrawn.) (2:04:44 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I try to back the car away from the hydrant. Is it still running? (2:05:07 AM) SteveMcWhat: The car is in pretty bad shape. You try to back up, but seem to be stuck. (2:05:31 AM) SteveMcWhat: The zombies are closing on you. The nearest is about 20 yards. (2:05:42 AM) Kyle Reid: "Come on, guys! We need to get out of here!" (2:05:55 AM) William Laurence: I follow. (2:05:59 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I get out and run with the others. (2:06:01 AM) Clyve Fourier: I hop out of the car, draw my gun, and flee. (2:06:22 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Back to Devin! We need to warn him about this!" (2:07:02 AM) SteveMcWhat: The road you're on runs north and south. North is to the highway, but that's where you caused the biggest disturbance, and the zombie mob is densest in that direction (2:07:18 AM) Clyve Fourier: "We can head south and circle around!" (2:07:27 AM) Kyle Reid: "Right!" (2:07:28 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Good idea!" I run south. (2:07:28 AM) SteveMcWhat: South are several flattened zombies, and some stragglers. (2:07:54 AM) Clyve Fourier: As we run, I try to pick off any stragglers that are directly in our way (2:08:04 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (2:08:39 AM) William Laurence: I just run, saving my last shot. (2:08:44 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve holds his fire until the zombie is directly in front of him. The shot knocks the zombie from its feet. (2:08:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: Oh wait, are you using a shotgun still? (2:10:04 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Hmm. Can I use Tactics to find a route through the crowd of zombies that will make it impossible for them to intercept us? (2:10:04 AM) Clyve Fourier: (No, the pistol.) (2:10:40 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Well then the zombie isn't knocked down, it's just a flesh wound) (2:10:57 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Yeah you can try tactics to look for a good route) (2:11:50 AM) SteveMcWhat: You've now backtracked to the corner you originally turned on. Left is back towards the post office and other stuff i described before you took evasive maneuvers to lose the zombies (2:12:40 AM) SteveMcWhat: The intersection is clogged with about 20 zombies who have converged here. (2:12:59 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Okay, tactics: (2:13:07 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 16 (2:13:10 AM) Clyve Fourier: I also try tactics to evade the zombies. (2:13:11 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 8 (2:13:20 AM) William Laurence: I'll do that too (2:13:21 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (2:14:07 AM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin spots a gap in the zombies towards the right (west.) You all hesitate for a moment before following her. (2:15:52 AM) Kyle Reid: "Caitlin, I really hope you know where you're going." (2:16:31 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Don't worry, I do!" (2:16:50 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Nikki has some fine taste in feats. :P) (2:18:45 AM) SteveMcWhat: You make it through the intersection. However your victory doesn't last long, as you turn the corner you're confronted by another wall of zombies another 30 yards down the street. There appears to be no place to go (2:19:13 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Aw, damn. Into the buildings?" (2:19:38 AM) Clyve Fourier: I check to see if any of the alleyways or buildings have any obvious other exits. (2:19:48 AM) Kyle Reid: "I don't see anywhere else to go. Do you?" (2:19:49 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Are there any fire escapes on the buildings? (2:19:56 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (2:20:03 AM) William Laurence: I look around for a way out (2:20:04 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 4 (2:20:16 AM) Kyle Reid: I search for an escape as well. (2:20:17 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 15 (2:20:42 AM) SteveMcWhat: There's a large garage door on a building on the south side of the road. (2:20:52 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Quick, the garage!" (2:21:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I throw the door open. (2:21:05 AM) Kyle Reid: I run over to the garage and open the door. (2:21:08 AM) William Laurence: I run that way (2:22:05 AM) SteveMcWhat: The door is heavy. About 15 feet high and 20 wide, you only manage to open it enough to crouch under (2:22:06 AM) Clyve Fourier: I follow. (2:22:29 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I look underneath. Zombies? (2:22:49 AM) Kyle Reid: I get inside and hold the door up until everyone else is inside, then close it. (2:23:24 AM) SteveMcWhat: If there are any zombies in the garage, they are fewer than out in the streets, and better hidden (2:23:45 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Good enough for me. I roll under the door, then leap to my feet. (2:24:21 AM) SteveMcWhat: The garage door slams shut on the arm of a grasphing zombie. You can hear the sounds of moaning and banging as the crowd piles up against the door. (2:24:50 AM) William Laurence: I look around the garage for anything useful (2:24:50 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 6 (2:25:10 AM) Kyle Reid: "I don't want to stick around to find out what zombies can or cannot open." (2:25:20 AM) William Laurence: (what the hell do these dice have against me) (2:25:36 AM) SteveMcWhat: You take a moment to survey your surroundings. What immediately jumps out at you is the giant red fire truck. (2:25:40 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I search for ways out of the garage. (2:25:42 AM) William Laurence: A quick scan, not an in-depth search (2:25:49 AM) Kyle Reid: I look for another way out of the garage. (2:25:49 AM) William Laurence: "How about that?" (2:26:03 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Sure. You drive this time.": (2:26:03 AM) William Laurence: I see if the truck is unlocked (2:26:22 AM) Kyle Reid: "Can anyone here drive a fire truck?" (2:26:23 AM) Clyve Fourier: I crack my knuckes. "Fire Truck vs. Door: Round 1!" (2:26:24 AM) William Laurence: If so, I get in and start the ignition (2:26:49 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I look around for a less violent way to open the garage door. (2:27:11 AM) Kyle Reid: I quickly search the garage. (2:27:12 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 3 (2:27:14 AM) SteveMcWhat: The truck is unlocked (2:27:17 AM) Kyle Reid: (or not) (2:27:23 AM) SteveMcWhat: But the key is not in the ignition. Kyle finds nothing. (2:27:53 AM) William Laurence: "How about some of that hotwiring?" (2:27:55 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Okay, let's see if I can do that htwire trick again..." Engineering. (2:27:56 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 16 (2:27:58 AM) SteveMcWhat: There's a fire pole leading upstairs, a door in the back of the garage, some tool chests, and a couple large drums that look like they ahve water in them (2:28:16 AM) William Laurence: "Urp! Grab that water someone!" (2:28:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: (They're too heavy. It's like 50 gallons) (2:28:27 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Hmm. I load the drums onto the back of the truck, then the took chests. (2:28:31 AM) Clyve Fourier: (The PhD he has is actualy in stealing cars, you know) (2:28:38 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Oh. Could two people lift one? (2:29:06 AM) SteveMcWhat: They could scoot it on the floor, but probably not lift it onto a fire truck. (2:29:11 AM) William Laurence: Are the zombies any closer to getting in? (2:29:11 AM) William Laurence: (ping) (2:29:21 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I'm still debating whether I should actually let you hotwire a firetruck) (2:29:46 AM) Kyle Reid: I check the back door. Where does it lead? (2:30:22 AM) SteveMcWhat: The back door leads to a stairway. The stairs are clogged with furniture. (2:30:25 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Hmm, How about four people together? (2:30:43 AM) Kyle Reid: Can I climb the stairs? (2:30:46 AM) Clyve Fourier: (He rolled a DC 23, that should be good enough...) (2:31:07 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Yeah but its a fucking fire truck.) (2:31:31 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Mechanically, why should it be harder to hotwire than a car? It's got all the same wires, right?) (2:31:35 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve has the steering column busted open, and is fiddling with the wires. Somehow he sets off the firetrucks alarms, which just add to the cacophany (2:32:04 AM) Clyve Fourier: (You shouldn't have put it there if you didn't want me to hijack it) (2:32:12 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I don't know, you'd think they'd do something to make them harder to steal, but who knows) (2:32:28 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Erm sirens not alarms) (2:32:34 AM) Thuryl: (http://www.thespectrum.com/article/20110622/NEWS01/110622042/Sheriff-s-Office-investigates-fire-truck-thefts apparently hotwiring a firetruck is A Thing That Can Be Done at least) (2:32:39 AM) Thuryl: (you're welcome) (2:32:43 AM) Kyle Reid: I'm gonna try to climb the stairs to see where they go. (2:32:44 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Why? Who would steal something that they can't hide, can't run away in, and probably don't know how to drive in the first place?)P (2:33:21 AM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle can pick his way over the furniture with some difficulty. It leads to the second floor, which once housed the firemen (2:33:47 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I ignore the water drums for now, and load the tool chests onto the truck. (2:34:01 AM) Kyle Reid: I take a close look around the second floor. (2:34:02 AM) Kyle Reid: earlbenj@cableone.net rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (2:34:13 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve connects two wires and is rewarded with some sparks and a mild shock. (2:34:34 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Goddamit! I thought I had it- hang on-" (2:34:37 AM) SteveMcWhat: Kyle finds several full suits of firemen's gear. (2:34:52 AM) Caitlin Youngs: After I've loaded the chests, I search the garage for the truck's keys. Special focus on desks, lockers, and other places where keys go: (2:34:54 AM) William Laurence: I look around for keys (2:34:55 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 10 (2:35:01 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Caitlin Youngs rolled 1 20-sided die: 2 (2:35:05 AM) Kyle Reid: Can I see the zombie horde from here? (2:35:49 AM) SteveMcWhat: Caitlin and William scrounge around the garage. William approaches the window overlooking the street you just came in on. There's a mob of zombies about 20 deep outside. (2:36:02 AM) SteveMcWhat: Erm Kyle approaches window (2:36:25 AM) Kyle Reid: I go back downstairs. (2:36:36 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve tries two more wires, and this time the engine starts (2:36:48 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Real quick, guys, help me load this water." (2:36:52 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Haha!" (2:36:55 AM) William Laurence: I help load the water (2:37:13 AM) Kyle Reid: "I hope that thing can drive through a mess of bodies, because there's a ton of zombies outside." (2:37:25 AM) SteveMcWhat: You have to dump out about 20 gallons from the drum, but ultimately between the 4 of you you get it onto the truck. (2:37:37 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Wait hold on, don't firetrucks have tanks in them? just leave it) (2:37:44 AM) Clyve Fourier: "I hope it can bust through the door!" (2:37:57 AM) Kyle Reid: "Anyone find the mechanims for the door?" (2:38:00 AM) Kyle Reid: *mechanism (2:38:00 AM) William Laurence: I get into the truck and buckle up. "Any garage door openers, or should I drive through it?" (2:38:05 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "The thing has a fire hose! We can clear a path through the zombies!" (2:38:26 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Dibs on the fire hose!" (2:38:30 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Did we find a way to open the door? (2:38:51 AM) SteveMcWhat: Either open it the way you did the first time, or ram it (2:39:02 AM) SteveMcWhat: There's no electricity, so nothing else seems promising (2:39:17 AM) William Laurence: I wait until I clearly have three passengers, then back through the door. (2:39:23 AM) Kyle Reid: I take a seat on the truck. (2:39:24 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Okay. I get in and buckle myself in. (2:39:38 AM) SteveMcWhat: (The truck is facing the garage door) (2:39:49 AM) William Laurence: I front though the door. (2:39:53 AM) Clyve Fourier: I also get in. "RAMMING SPEED!" (2:40:25 AM) SteveMcWhat: Clyve floors it, but the truck doesnt move. (2:40:38 AM) Clyve Fourier: (i'm not driving...) (2:40:40 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Will is driving. (2:40:53 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Or, well, Will is trying to drive. (2:40:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: Well he floors it too. Still doesn't move. (2:41:07 AM) William Laurence: I disable the parking brake and put it into first? (2:41:10 AM) Clyve Fourier: I check for the source of the problem. (2:41:11 AM) Clyve Fourier: mageantonius rolled 1 20-sided die: 5 (2:41:15 AM) William Laurence: Telaverin rolled 1 20-sided die: 7 (2:41:19 AM) Clyve Fourier: (ENGN, obviousl) (2:41:43 AM) Caitlin Youngs: (Dantius uses ENG like Red Mage uses animal husbandry. :P) (2:41:57 AM) SteveMcWhat: The truck takes off like a drag racer... sort of. But it does have enough steam to crunch the metal door like an aluminum can. (2:42:40 AM) Thuryl: (what, I'm right here and you of all people didn't make a Gravity Well joke?) (2:42:54 AM) SteveMcWhat: Zombies grasph at the truck ineffectively as it plows through the crowd. (2:43:12 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Are the sirens still going? (2:43:20 AM) SteveMcWhat: Yeah (2:43:30 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Good. Devin should hear us coming. (2:43:38 AM) William Laurence: I plow back to where Devyn is, unless someone needs to take a pee break or something. (2:44:01 AM) Clyve Fourier: I lean back and light up another cigarette. "Good, we can pick up a case when we're atthe gas station." (2:45:03 AM) SteveMcWhat: You hange an immediate right then a left one street down, retracing your steps. (2:45:27 AM) SteveMcWhat: Any zombie that gets in your way becomes a bug stain on your chrome grill. (2:46:25 AM) SteveMcWhat: As you approach the gas station, sirens blazing and a stream of zombies in the distance struggling after you, you only hope that Devin followed the first rule when for when you get lost: "Stay put!" (2:47:16 AM) SteveMcWhat: (Go) (2:47:38 AM) Caitlin Youngs: Go what? (2:47:42 AM) William Laurence: I pull into the gas station, looking for Devyn. (2:47:54 AM) Kyle Reid: I get out and go running for the barricade. (2:47:57 AM) Clyve Fourier: I check for zombies and get out. (2:48:07 AM) Kyle Reid: "Devin!" (2:48:25 AM) Caitlin Youngs: I get up on top of the truck and look in every direction for Devin and zombies. Should I make an Observation roll? (2:48:34 AM) SteveMcWhat: (I don't know, I'm waiting for Devin to come hop on the back or something) (2:48:45 AM) William Laurence: I stay in the truck and honk the horn. (2:48:54 AM) Devin McCloud: I step out of the gas station. "I see you traded up." (2:49:03 AM) Clyve Fourier: I wander into the store and grab a carton of the most expensive cigarettes I can find. (2:49:11 AM) William Laurence: "Next time, let's stay with the group!" (2:49:14 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "There you are! What the fuck were you thinking, staying behind like that?" (2:49:16 AM) Kyle Reid: Seeing Devin, I run back to the truck. (2:49:17 AM) Caitlin Youngs: "Get on!" (2:49:29 AM) Clyve Fourier: "Yeah, well, I decided I din't like the paint job on the minivan. So I stole a firetruck." (2:49:53 AM) Devin McCloud: I hop on the fire engine. "I was thinking, 'hey, it'd be nice to have a car we didn't have to hotwire'.
